This all reminds me of a line from A Shot In The Dark where Clouseau, smitten with the prime suspect of a murder (Elke Sommer), dismisses the obvious motive of her now dead Spanish boyfriend.

Clouseau: What? You idiot! It’s impossible. She’s protecting someone.
Hercule LaJoy: How do you know that?
Clouseau: Instinct!
Hercule LaJoy: But that facts...
Clouseau: You are forgetting the most important fact - motive.

Clouseau: He was Spanish!

CO: He was a member of the RoP - he even claimed his religion as the motive as he carried out the act!
DL: You fool! It was the guns and our toxic American attitudes!...
Make no mistake, they’ll keep looking for a motive until they “find” one that is useful towards advancing their meme.
