Like I just posted, here in the 5th District [Virginia] we weren’t even allowed to vote for ‘our’ candidate. Some weird special local convention process.

I'll suggest that you were more than allowed to vote in the 5th Congressional District for your Republican nominee. You had the opportunity to participate in a party Convention. In Virginia, primaries are paid for by all Citizens (including Dem, Independent, Green, Libertarian, etc.) and all Citizens (including Dem, Independent, Green, Libertarian, etc.) who are registered to vote can participate. The 5th CD gave you and other Republicans and like minded Citizens the opportunity to pick your nominee. You got a great one with Tom Garrett.
I was there and I don't even live in the 5th CD - and of course can't vote there or at the convention.

You should go to the conventions! Can be fun with like-minded people.
