However, you are forgetting that Russia's frustrated ambition was the biggest single cause of the First World War.

Revisionist nonsense, but at least you've laid cards on the table.

On the other hand, I have no doubt that Putin would never lie, cheat, or steal to HURT Russia.

<><><><

LOL.

His estimated net worth is 70 BILLION dollars.

How does a lifelong civil servant come by those kinds of dollars honestly?

It's not revisionist at all: frustrated by it's defeat in the Russo-Japanese War and bolstered by enormous loans and armament from France afterwards, the Russians felt they could easily deal with any war with the German and the Austro-Hungarian Empires.

The French increased their armaments and conscription lists, enormously expanding the French Army while the Russians used the French loans to expand their rail network to deliver men to the front. So an originally defensive alliance with France was slowly transformed into an offensive one, leading the Russians to give their Serbian allies carte blanche in the Balkans.

It's all very well documented by Christopher Clark.

I'm not sure I agree but I do agree with this:

A Habsburg on the throne in Vienna and a Romanov on the throne in St. Petersburg would make the world a better place.

I'll even throw in a Hohenzollern on the German throne and a Bourbon on the French!

Russian rule of Europe would be an improvement over the coming Islamic rule of Europe. Russia for all it's faults is a Christian nation and is willing to fight back against the tide Islam.

It's all very well documented by Christopher Clark.

Clark is a well known historian whose primary focus for decades has been challenging established notions about German history. He is a revisionist by definition of the word and hardly an objective authority.

His thesis is very well supported by the evidence he presents in his book.

In any case, probably the most "revisionist" thing about his argument is that all the major powers basically walked into the catastrophe of WWI based on fantasies and ignorance, even of their own government's actions, such as the British, who were unaware of the guarantees made by their own Foreign Secretary to the French.

I disagree with how you define the dangers, which we all recognize. All aspects of the decline of the West--all increased threats to the West--to European civilization on both sides of the Atlantic today--grow directly out of the attack on ethnic pride & the disparagement of heritage.

These attacks on national identity, on the continuity of the unique national cultures of the peoples involved, given credibility by the antics of international humanist, egalitarian/collectivist domination of Western media and academics, have led directly to a loss of any real sense of continued purpose; to any appreciation of how we got to where we were, in the times of cultural achievement.

Thus, despite an enormous expansion of beneficial scientific discoveries, we have lost our will to apply those discoveries to our unique needs, while stupidly encouraging those able to employ those same advances, to shun any sense of duty to the communities that made their ability to so employ them, possible; while those thus corrupted embraced the fallacy of internationalism, even to the destruction of their own social heritages, in the pursuit of materialism undirected by moral purpose. (Leveling achievers & embracing foreign labor to deny benefits & traditional tranquility to your neighbors, are not moral purposes.)

Forgive the rant!

The idea of Russian Nationalism was abhorrent to the Soviets, who were internationalists.

The irony was that Stalin, the Georgian, was the most pro-Russian nationalist leader the Soviets had.

Stalin was fighting for his life against The German Socialists in World War II, so he embraced Russian Nationalism in desperation.

Stalin’s hero was “Ivan the Terrible”, not Karl Marx or Lenin.

I’m okay with everything you said except about the ethnic thing. I’ve been visiting a site with an increasing number of white supremacist types and so I have a very sour taste in my mind because of that.

That said, our country was founded (aside from the native tribes) primarily by Europeans, and primarily from Great Britain. That is a fact. The immigrants who have subsequently peopled the US have in the main accepted happily the tenets and culture already established.

That day is long ago and now tremendous numbers of descendents of the original immigrants have given up the basic moral values and the principles of governance founded upon those values.

What to do now? The utter decay, rot and stench of what is called popular culture is killing the souls of millions, or rather deadening. The humanist/atheist/internationalist goals are being accomplished quickly, the Dems and Repubs are on board (albeit some Rs are not). The corruption is larded throughout every institution both public and private (of course a few are not but most are) and the public education system has done its best to destroy morals and rational thinking among millinos who have pssed through.

IMHO a great crash and not just financial, is inevitable; and sadly, it may be what is needed to get the country off the track which leads into the abyss.

What does the Josephine’s coronation have to do with the Russian imperialism? Josephine was a Napoleon’s wife, he’s also present in this official painting.

Well, I've read and found out - Halet Efendi, an Ottoman ambassador to the Napoleon's court. Still don't understand how it associates the painting to Russia and/or its imperial aspirations.

Napoleon was crowned Emperor, not by the Pope, but by himself. He took the crown from the Pope’s hands and placed it upon himself, thus mocking God by saying he alone was responsible for his achievements......................

Well, it has nothing to do with Russia. This picture is related to the Russian Empire, probably, it suits better:

I used the Zoom function of my browser to look for a turban in the background, like at Nappy’s coronation and didn’t see one, although I did spy what appears to be a Catholic Bishop way off the the left side, above the guy with his arm stretched out. He must have been ordering the muslims to stand outside.......................8^)
