They voted to become a State a few years ago, which implies losing all the special perqs they had as a territory, and accepting all the responsibilities of being a state. It wasn’t finally approved by Congress. If they are willing to be held to the same standards as the other States, I’m for letting them in. I can’t be for “cutting loose” all the places that vote Democrat, or, as a Californian, I’d be cut loose along with them! Isn’t it our job to try to clean up corruption and try to grow the number of conservatives because that leads to freedom and prosperity? let’s take the long view and work toward it, not just quit early. IMHO.
