Kamala Harris, Loretta Sanchez Claim Runoff Spots In California US Senate Race
The Sacramento Bee ^ | June 7, 2016

In a historic first, California voters Tuesday sent two Democrats, both minority women, to a November runoff for the state’s open U.S. Senate seat.

The matchup between state Attorney General Kamala Harris and 10-term Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez marks the first time since voters started electing senators a century ago that Republicans will be absent from California’s general election ballot for the Senate. The outcome reaffirms the GOP’s diminished stature in the nation’s most populous state.

The two were among 34 candidates seeking the seat being vacated by retiring Sen. Barbara Boxer, a liberal favorite first elected a generation ago, in 1992.

Under California election rules, only two candidates – the top vote-getters – advance to the November election.

>> if elected to the Senate, Loretta Sanchez would never be able to go any further. <<

I wouldn't be so sure about that. As another poster noted, Sanchez is ambitious and has a national network of supporters. The RATs would LOVE to put a Latina on a presidential ticket and pat themselves on the back for "making history", and she's be one of the only prominent ones available.

The demographic trends of California favor Sanchez, but the hard-left Dem base is more likely to back Harris.

Because California decided that since dems were the majority they would do away with party primaries for state offices. Only exception is president

The reason the DemocRATS can run rampant now is because in the last few years, about 4,000,000 repubs/conservatives have left the state.

I’m about to follow suit. Getting scary in SoCal.

What should Republicans in California do with this race.

It doesn't matter. They are irrelevant, except in local races.

CA is set for destruction. Christians should vacate the state before the hammer of God’s justice falls.

B-1 Bob Dornan! Lost because of Dem voter fraud right here in a Orange County. Demographics change elections folks. This used to be Reagan Country. Now it’s home to anti Trump riots in Costa Mesa by scum with Mexican flags supporting La Raza. They key your car, flatten and burn your tires, and jump on your car in the parking lot of Trump rally’s.

We didn't really want to leave California but our jobs were sent out of state twenty years ago. Many friends and family still live there and it's very concerning. Yet on Zillow, the house we left in California at a loss is now worth 3x what we paid for it. Who's buying those things?

My old college pal in El Dorado County
is in the middle of the local Jefferson
movement. He is on a first name basis
with Tom Mc. He thinks Tom may be
somewhat neutralized by the GOPe.
Still, the write-in idea is solid.
How about Duncan Hunter? At least it
might give him a leg up for the Fiendstink
seat forthcoming.

It was a paradise when I was born and grew up there. All that beautiful country now ruined.

Remember the videos of Planned Parenthood selling body parts?

Kamala Harris raided the filmmaker’s home, confiscating many of the videos before they were to be released.

My best guess: La Raza sponsored people and organizations.

I think La Raza has begun the big push to try to get back a portion of SoCal .. that which we fought a war for; paid Mexico thousands of dollars for .. but all La Raza can say is “USA stole it” .. which of course the liberals grandly agree with.

I can hardly wait until the Hollywood elites realize that their plush homes are going to be a main target.

Sit it out if you want to be saying “President Harris” in a few years.
Vote for the old fat Sanchez who will end her career in the Senate. Those are your choices. Reps. can’t elect a republican (he got 8%) but they may be able to stop Harris. She is prosecuting the planned parenthood videographer rather than the ones that sold body parts. She is more evil than Sanchez.

______

Do you not understand that there is no rep,. even in the race in november?
That’s how bad CA is. If you want Harris to be your president one day, by all means sit it out. Have you not been following her career? Mate Obama with Sanders, put on a pretty face, and that is Harris. I pray the old ineffective Sanchez beats her. Won’t happen though, especially if reps. won’t vote for the clearly less dangerous one.

CA is hosed. Done. Finished. The gimme vote here is fully established and immovable. I can’t say what it might take to flip this around, but I would be surprised if it can be done in under 30 years.

CA GOP voters should sue. Voters should have a right to choose between the party nominee of each party in a GENERAL election. Otherwise, the General Election is being treated as a primary runoff.
