A Hawaii judge ordered the release of a woman accused in the death of her twin sister Wednesday after finding no probable cause for a murder charge.
According to court records, Judge Blaine Kobayashi ordered the release of Alexandria Duval during her preliminary hearing.
Prosecutors say Alexandria Duval, who is also known as Alison Dadow, intentionally caused the death of her identical twin sister Anastasia Duval, also known as Ann Dadow.
"We will have to see what other evidence we can find by furthering the investigation," Maui Prosecuting Attorney John Kim told the Associated Press when asked what prosecutors plan to do next.

The 37-year-old sisters were driving in a Ford Explorer on Hana Highway when they crashed into a rock wall last week, plunging about 200 feet onto a rocky shoreline. Anastasia Duval was pronounced dead at the scene. Her sister was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Witnesses told police they saw the two sisters arguing while the vehicle was stopped and said the passenger was pulling the drivers hair, Maui Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Emlyn Higa said. Then they saw the vehicle "accelerate forward and then take a sharp left over the cliff," he said.

The vehicle's air-bag control module showed that the driver didn't attempt to brake before accelerating, making a hard left and hitting the wall, the documents said.

A very strange case. The twin sisters had an enmeshed relationship, and ran a yoga business that made them wealthy but I believe they were accused of mismanaging it.
I don't see why she shouldn't be charged with murder. She may have also intended to kill herself, but she also intended to kill her sister. And even if she expected to die as well (which would appear to be the only logical conclusion, since she went over that cliff herself), she knew she'd be taking her sister's life as well. That should at least be manslaughter. That she is walking around freely in society, after accomplishing manslaughter/murder and attempting suicide, is troubling and mystifying.
Or she may have in the midst of getting her hair pulled and fighting her sister, just hit the gas.
Still manslaughter or negligent homicide.
It’s not just the twins who were nuts. Their older sister is restricted from visiting her now wheelchair bound father, after threatening him with violence. This older sister demanded that the father; a retired jail doctor, give her $100,000.00. The father refused, and was subjected to a lot of abuse. So much abuse, he had to press a button on his medallion that signaled he needed the police to visit.
That’s true. The version from the Daily Mail says this:
“One witness said Alexandria appeared enraged before the crash that left her sister dead.
“Witnesses saw the two women arguing while the vehicle was stopped and said the passenger was pulling the driver’s hair.
“Then they saw the vehicle ‘accelerate forward and then take a sharp left over the cliff,’ he said.”
They also were in trouble with the law quite a bit:
“Both sisters have lengthy criminal records too.
Alexandria’s criminal record in Utah includes arrests on suspicion of driving under the influence, fleeing the scene of an accident and driving without insurance.
“In January 2014, she was charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
“Her sister Anastasia Duval was arrested near Ogden, Utah, in 2014 for public intoxication, assault on a police officer, disorderly conduct and interference with an arrest.
“She also had convictions in Florida for disorderly intoxication, battery and resisting arrest.
Maui Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Emlyn Higa said the sisters changed their names after moving to Hawaii in December from Utah.”
And:
“Lambiet believes this is the reason they absconded without paying their employees or reimbursing their customers.
“Dalia Soles, who was the general manager at the twins (yoga) studio, told GossipExtra: A lot of people really trusted them. But for all the love they got here, they betrayed everybody.
“But the sisters soon resurfaced in Park City, Utah, and wreaked havoc there.”
Gay twin sisters lover’s fight
I hadn’t heard that. It’s really bizarre, and I can’t understand why she isn’t either in jail, or a mental hospital. I remember learning in high school that suicide itself is a crime.
But it may be just that they are having trouble proving she intended to go off the road.
She was, however, driving recklessly. In the Daily Mail article I also linked to, a witness said he kept saying to himself, “don’t hit me”:
“Lawrence Lau said he feared for his life when he saw the SUV speeding towards him just before it drove off the cliff.
‘My first thought when she was coming past us was, ‘Don’t hit me, don’t hit me,’ because she was slightly out of control,’ he told KHON2. ‘She was doing 40 miles an hour from a dead stop at that point.’”
I also heard that both twins had rage problems. She could have easily killed other people besides her sister driving so recklessly.
Anastasia
“Inside Edition” did a story on the case and played footage of driving along that road. I’m sure it’s beautiful, but I would prefer to pass.
And no alternate road there either.
Both surviving daughters of this family are alcoholic. Daily Mail article states a friend talking about one of the twins: “She changes completely when she’s drinking”.
Nothing like yoga to calm the spirit.
I guess we can conclude that Yoga doesn’t give you inner peace.
It may be different now, but back then, one could not drive all the way around as a circuit. When the road became impassable, I had to turn around and ride the 62 miles back up the same road, with the light fading and my butt getting extremely sore (no rubber mounts of the old Sportster iron head engine!)
This is interesting, if it’s actually true:
“McMichael said their downfall began after they were approached by reality television producers who wanted to feature them on a show.
“They had outgrown one of their studios, in well-to-do Palm Beach Gardens, but instead of annexing a neighboring storefront as planned, they were persuaded by the producers to lease space on the priciest, trendiest street in West Palm Beach, McMichael said.
“They were banking on the TV income to make it work, but then the show fell through and they were stuck with a lease they couldnt afford, she said.
They were all but in. They had set up their lives around the show, McMichael said. When it didnt happen, they were in too much debt.

You would think they would have had legal grounds to sue.
If it gave inner peace, Hollywood would be a very different place.
Well one of them has RIP .... could be considered inner peace!
“Years before blazing a twisted path through Palm Beach Countys yoga community, identical twin sisters Ann and Alison Dadow were passengers one day in a car speeding along the Sawgrass Expressway at 85 mph.
“Suddenly, from the passengers seat, Ann started kicking the steering wheel and windshield with her feet as she and Alison, from the back seat, screamed at the driver.
“They were like little kids throwing a temper tantrum because Anns boyfriend, Keith Weiss, was ignoring their pleas to stop for another glass of wine, Weiss said.
“I almost went off the road, recalled Weiss, who blocked the kicks with his right arm as he drove the twins in his green Pontiac Sunfire that day in 2001.”

What a weird case...
By releasing her, he just sent her on the way to yet another new identity. They’ll never find her now.
