Crowd starts to gather for Trump rally at Richmond Coliseum

From staff reports | Posted: Friday, June 10, 2016 3:08 pm

Secret service arrives at Richmond Coliseum to prepare the rally for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Friday, June 10, 2016.

Hours before Donald Trump was scheduled to speak at the Richmond Coliseum, people were gathering outside the venue.

Secret Service and Richmond police were first on the scene around 3 p.m., and shortly after vendors, Trump supporters and protesters started arriving. Doors opened for the event at 5 p.m.; the event is scheduled to start at 8 p.m.

Richmond Police Chief Alfred Durham and Fire Chief Robert Creecy took a leisurely walk around a largely empty plaza at the Coliseum two hours before Trump's scheduled speech.

"It's early, but right now it's good," Durham said with a smile. "It's real good." Creecy said the fire department, emergency medical services and ambulance authority were standing by just in case.

"It's just being prepared," Creecy said.

Is it going to be televised or streamed on the web?

He should have given a short speech notifying everyone that his officers have Orders to “Shoot to Kill” any and All Violent Rioters.

I’m not going even though it’s close.
The Coliseum is the biggest thing around as a venue, but it is downtown. Haven’t been there in years.

Are they "protesters" or paid rent-a-mob rioters?

IF the protesters show up, their new strategy, I believe, will be to attack AFTER the rally ala San Jose. Find supporters by themselves and pick them off.

I sure hope the Richmond cops don’t play games and I hope groups of Trump supporters walking back to their cars have “gentlemen” with them that have thrown a punch or two.

DON’T start anything, but vigorously defend themselves if attacked.

And keep the cameras rolling.

Too dangerous? I’m not there, and I certainly won’t judge anyone’s personal wisdom.

The United States Constitution explicitly provides for ‘the right of the people peaceably to assemble’ with the operative word “peaceably”.
Any paid thugs or deadheads showing up just to cause trouble must be taken down by the police.
Like a lot of us, I’ve had my ration of watching illegals and dead enders running riot while the cops stand around.
Once enough people conclude that the social contract no longer protects them, they will start taking matters like self-defense into their own hands and then police will have real problems to bitch about.

Pray for angelic protection around DONALD TRUMP and every TRUMP SUPPORTER at the rally. May no weapon formed against them prosper.

It’s somewhat better more recently, but Richmond used to give Chicago and Detroit competition for shootings.
One night after coming out of a nightclub, I found I could not leave because they had an IV bottle propped up on my bumper for the shooting victim next to my truck.

Virginia is open carry.

My guess is there won’t be a repeat of San Jose.

Wouldn't want be within 20 miles of this event if they paid me.(about 20 min from home BTW). The Seigal center on Broad street has high school graduation, Tim McGraw is at the Altria, home school convention at the venue across the street and two protest groups outside the Coliseum.

Not good.

I don’t think it would be “ironic”. Terrible thing to even suggest.
