Took a snowmobile tour there in January. The guide (guides are mandated by the government) told us about a dog that had jumped into a hot spring. They don’t try to rescue you. You basically become soup very quickly. Ugly. Stay on the walkways.
Which is why they are giving out his name. They don’t know who the heck he was and won’t be pulling him out to find out. They’ll either have a John Doe from witnesses with no body or they’ll have to wait until there’s a missing persons report. It may very likely be that they’ll never know.
“...told us about a dog that had jumped into a hot spring. They dont try to rescue you.”
They did not tell you the whole story.
I live just north of YNP and when I was in college here (Bozeman) that’s when the dog jumped into a pool - and the owner jumped in to save the dog as it was yelping like crazy.
Both were DOA.
Nature is brutal.
