Migrants in Germany committed or tried to commit some 69,000 crimes in the first quarter of 2016, according to a police report that could raise unease, especially among anti-immigrant groups, about Chancellor Angela Merkel's liberal migrant policy.
There was a record influx of more than a million migrants into Germany last year and concerns are now widespread about how Europe's largest economy will manage to integrate them and ensure security.
The report from the BKA federal police showed that migrants from northern Africa, Georgia and Serbia were disproportionately represented among the suspects.
Absolute numbers of crimes committed by Syrians, Afghans and Iraqis - the three biggest groups of asylum seekers in Germany - were high but given the proportion of migrants that they account for, their involvement in crimes was "clearly disproportionately low", the report said.
It gave no breakdown of the number of actual crimes and of would-be crimes, nor did it state what percentage the 69,000 figure represented with respect to the total number of crimes and would-be crimes committed in the first three months of 2016.
The report stated that the vast majority of migrants did not commit any crimes.
It is the first time the BKA has published a report on crimes committed by migrants containing data from all of Germany's 16 states, so there is no comparable data.

3 guys rent a hotel room to play cards and pay 30 bucks for the room- 10 bucks each.
Hotel manager realized the room is only 25 bucks and gave 5 bucks to the bellhop to return to the 3 guys.
Bellhop decides these guys don’t know they’ve been overcharged nor how much, so bellhop keeps 2 bucks and gives the guys 3 bucks back - a dollar each.
So instead of the 3 guys paying 10 bucks each, they’ve only paid 9 bucks each.
9 bucks times 3= 27 bucks.
The bellhop kept 2 bucks which equals 29 bucks.

Actually, Hitler's policies boosted the German standard of living and lead to a thriving economy. The influence of British, American, French, and Russian "economic spending" during the years 1941-1945 made a sudden turnaround in employment and immigration.
There should be a Department of Prevention with a say over anything bad that may happen. It’s office can be next to the Department of Wishful Thinking.
No, I live in Germany so I can speak to this.
You have two standard areas of foreigners involved in crime.
1. The Moroccan gangs who now run drug-trafficking and snatch-and-go cellphone situations. If you live in Koln for example...almost all of the drugs in the inner city are sold by these gangs now. Cops admit this and simply don’t have the manpower to put it down. They have literally hundreds of video episodes collected around the train-station with cell-phone snatch-and-go....but admit the video is too grainy for them to do much with (go try suggesting new cameras and see how shocked the city council gets).
2. Home burglarizing and stolen cars. The number of home break-ins are going way beyond anything they’ve ever seen. When they do happen to accidentally bust the guy....he’s from Eastern Europe (Moldova, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, etc). Gangs are openly in urban areas and way beyond the ability of the cops to handle.
Stolen cars and parts being stolen are another issue. In the area that I live....they busted a couple of Bulgarian guys a while back. They were simply breaking into high-end BMWs and stealing the air-bags and navigational systems. Parts were being stored for pick-up later by other gang-members.
When you do have a mention of Iraqis or Syrians....it’s typically that they got into a insult tirade with each other which resulted in punches thrown and cops being called.
All of this leads back to a 1990s decision by the federal and state governments to cut back on cops. For every ten cops retiring....they were hiring like eight cops to replace them....year after year, after year. They’ve downsized the state police forces to the point that they’ve got a problem and they can’t rapidly bring the numbers back up to the 1990s levels without it costing a significant amount of money.
All of this frustrates the typical German on the street. All they get from political folks is double-talk. They don’t see crimes solved. When they wake up and their high-end BMW is gone....they just sit there shaking their head because they know it’ll never be solved.

Yes, I know that he helped pull Germany out of the Depression. I was talking about certain of his very negative choices and military strategies that left the country in utter ruins at the end of the war and millions of its people of all backgrounds dead, injured, or starving. I would call that extremely damaging overall.
I see it as a contrasting statement to the preceding sentence stating that criminal behavior by “migrants from northern Africa, Georgia and Serbia was disproportionately” high.
