I hear the schools in Africa are fabulous.

At my children’s current public elementary school, I was struck by the racial makeup of the top students. The math team was made up of five white students though one of those was of mixed race. The other five students were Asian, Asian, Asian, Asian, and African. The four Asians were from different parts of Asia. Their families were so proud. The African child is from a family of achievers. They are Christian. All ten of these students come from intact families.

Reading the report, I cannot find background associated to most of the statistics. I don't believe this report shows what they are trying to prove.

For instance:

Black public preschool children are suspended from school at high rates: Black preschool children are 3.6 times as likely to receive one or more out-of-school suspensions as white preschool children.

• Black children represent 19% of preschool enrollment, but 47% of preschool children receiving one or more out-of-school suspensions; in comparison, white children represent 41% of preschool enrollment, but 28% of preschool children receiving one or more out-of-school suspensions.

• Black boys represent 19% of male preschool enrollment, but 45% of male preschool children receiving one or more out-of-school suspensions.

• Black girls represent 20% of female preschool enrollment, but 54% of female preschool children receiving one or more out-of-school suspensions.

No where can I find how many of each race is at each school.

How can they say schools show a disparity and yet use are overall population totals to prove that point ?

How is this meaningful if a pre-school has 100% blacks ?

A Nigerian friend told me that some of her Nigerian friends living here were sending their children BACK to Nigeria for school - didn’t want them influenced by black American culture.
