I'm sorry, but that statement is incorrect, and if this is the premise from which you begin, you have already lost the argument.
The Constitution doesn't "give" the people rights. To say this is to say that our rights derive from the government, they do not. They are GOD GIVEN, and the Constitution simply recognizes and enumerates those rights.

The Constitution does not give rights to anyone. Only God can do that.
The Constitution only recognizes the rights endowed to us by our Creator, and promises to constrain the Federal government from imposing or encroaching upon any of those rights.
Since when did SHRILLERY ever give a damn about the CONSTITUTION?
To her it is just an annoying document that keeps getting in the way of her quest for ABSOLUTE POWER.
