McConnell pushes Trump to change
The Hill ^ | June 5, 2016 | Jordain Carney

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is growing increasingly critical of Donald Trump, warning him to lay off GOP officials and drop his penchant for “name calling.”

McConnell, who endorsed Trump, has been granting a steady stream of interviews to create buzz for his new book “The Long Game.” In the process, he’s leveled some sharp criticism at his party’s presumptive nominee.

Asked about Trump’s tendency to lash out at other Republicans, McConnell retorted, it “ought to stop.” "I don't like that,” he told a Baltimore radio station. “I don't think it adds any value whatsoever to the discourse. And it is something about him that I don't care for.”

He added to MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell that when it comes to Trump, he is “in favor of more scripts, more boring.”

The two Republicans are a study in opposites. McConnell is strategic and disciplined, while Trump has ruffled the feathers of GOP elites with his brash, unpredictable rhetoric.

McConnell has made clear he’d like Trump to get more disciplined, and has taken particular umbrage at the candidate’s tendency to lash out at members of the GOP.

McConnell needs to go for myriad reasons, any of which justify his removal.

He’s part of the fish rot at the top of the GOPe corruption.

Goes to show you how dumb Mitch is. Change the strategy that got you past 17 contenders and won you the nomination. What a maroon. No wonder the Senate is such a mess.

Trump needs to focus on issues. Hillary is vulnerable there. But that piece of crap McConnell should be removed from his leadership position and voted out of office. He has contributed to the mess Obama created by his collaboration.

Nikki Haley just the other day criticized Trump for his supposedly harsh rhetoric. Trump hasn't said anything about her since the Spring. Where was McConnell on this?

Also, why isn't McConnell and the Republicans focusing their fire on Hillary Clinton?

JUNE 24, 2013

Fox News has notably changed its tone since the election. A Democratic policy staffer who worked on the issue in 2007 and has helped write the current bill said, “NumbersUSA and FAIR” - two groups that want to dramatically limit immigration - “managed to convince Fox News back then to be their twenty-four-hour news channel of the anti-immigrant point of view. Fox has now totally bought in to the idea that we just need to figure something out.” Rush Limbaugh, who fiercely opposes the bill, has come to sound resigned. “I don’t know if there’s any stopping this,” he said on January 28th, the day the Gang held the press conference announcing its framework for the legislation. “It’s up to me and Fox News, and I don’t think Fox News is that invested in this.”

McCain told me, “Rupert Murdoch is a strong supporter of immigration reform, and Roger Ailes is, too.” Murdoch is the chairman and C.E.O. of News Corp., which owns Fox, and Ailes is Fox News’s president. McCain said that he, Graham, Rubio, and others also have talked privately to top hosts at Fox, including Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, and Neil Cavuto, who are now relatively sympathetic to the Gang’s proposed bill. Hannity voiced support for a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, which he previously dismissed as “amnesty,” on the day after the 2012 election. “God bless Fox,” Graham said. “Last time, it was ‘amnesty’ every fifteen seconds.” He said that the change was important for his reëlection, because “eighty per cent of people in my primary get their news from Fox.” He added that the network has “allowed critics to come forward, but it’s been so much better.”

Trump needs to focus on issues.

He is. But the media and the Dems/GOPe are creating a narrative that Trump's "harsh" rhetoric is contributing to violence.

He should be emphasizing her criminal incompetence as Secretary of state while maintaining his shtick which draws the media and public attention. It’s a delicate balance, but so far, his decisions on the campaign trail have been good. I am concerned about the Reuters poll, but I think it was contrived. No one goes from neck and neck to double digits behind in one week. It smells.
