Sanders: There Will be a Contested Convention
The Hill ^ | June 4, 2016 | Harper Neidig

Posted on 06/04/2016 6:10:39 PM PDT by maggief

Bernie Sanders on Saturday reiterated his vow to keep campaigning all the way to Democratic National Convention, regardless of how the rest of the primaries turn out.

"Hillary Clinton will not have the requisite number of pledged delegates to win the Democratic nomination at the end of the nominating process on June 14,” Sanders told reporters in Los Angeles Saturday, according to CNN. “Won't happen. She will be dependent on super delegates."

"The Democratic National Convention will be a contested convention," he said.

Sanders criticized the media for accounting for superdelegates when talking about Clinton’s lead in the race, saying that their backing of a candidate is fluid and those who support Clinton now have six weeks before they actually cast their votes.

Last week I read that 22,000 Bernie supporters had pledged to go to Philly to protest outside the convention. I would expect that number to grow over the next few weeks. If only 50% showed up it could make things interesting.

a tweeter pulls numbers out of her a— and you assume she is accurate

Look, the Bernie campaign has every incentive to exaggerate their numbers. Sympathetic journalists and tweeters will repeat whatever they “hear” that they like, whether it comes directly from the campaign or simply from some other sympathetic journalist, activist, or tweeter.

I’m not questioning that they have a good crowd there, I’m saying it does not look anything like a crowd of 21,000 to me (and yes, I did even spend a little bit of time counting heads in sections of the photos)..... I would bet a lot of money that it is under 10,000 but if you don’t want to look at the information critically that is your privilege.

Just because Berniebots want to say “21,000” or even more doesn’t mean we have to believe them.

Well the actual number isn't that important to me. What I see is that Bernie is drawing much larger crowds than Crooked Hillary and they appear to be coming voluntarily and enthusiastically, whereas Pantsuit is reduced to luring bums off the streets and into buses with stale pastries and cold coffee.

Her Death March campaign has been soul-crushing. It looks like the Democrat establishment machine is going to get her the nomination in the end but it certainly won't be the coronation she was looking for. At the very least, she's going to have to share the stage with Bernie and make some major concessions to get him on board. Maybe even the VP slot. You just know it's going to eat her up inside to see Bernie at the convention getting a reception from his groupies like he was the second coming of The Beatles. At what was supposed to be HER convention!

What a weak, weak candidate. She can't even put away a disheveled washed-up Socialist like Bernie Sanders.

of course they do have loads of people on the field in addition to the stands, so one would need to count all the people standing on the field, certainly .... but looking from the stage in the first photo I did not estimate that there could be many thousands more than the stadium capacity.... but if anyone is prepared to sit and count heads I will welcome the enlightenment!

I’ve said since March that the Dem convention will be where the action is.

I don't know if this would ever happen but . . . what if Hillary, in an attempt to compromise, makes Bernie her running mate?

Would that drive more Democrats to Trump?

Frankly, I don't know who could work with either Hillary or Bernie. Maybe neurotic women or ex-hippies? Probably one of the reasons Hillary mentioned having her husband as adviser is because only a family member can be around her.

Trump, for all his issues, would be easier. It's not just managing people -- it's attracting normal people.

It truly saddens my heart to see that there are this many people supporting a communist socialist in America. Have they learned nothing from history? All they need to do is look what communist socialism has reaped in Venezuela to see what kind of “future” they are being promised by Bernie Sanders. These people truly are “useful idiots”.

"Have they learned nothing from history?"

They don't teach history anymore.

Many of the Bernie supporters are illegals or foreigners. So his crowd size may not reflect on the real election in comparison to Trump.

A whole lot of his supporters are foreigners who are not allowed to vote in our elections.

Pretty much every Democrat in my circles thinks Hillary is a Republican.

This is an amazing election.
