Muhammad Ali, the silver-tongued boxer and civil rights champion who famously proclaimed himself "The Greatest" and then spent a lifetime living up to the billing, is dead.

Ali died Friday at a Phoenix-area hospital, where he had spent the past few days being treated for respiratory complications, a family spokesman confirmed to NBC News. He was 74.

After a 32-year battle with Parkinson's disease, Muhammad Ali has passed away at the age of 74. The three-time World Heavyweight Champion boxer died this evening," Bob Gunnell, a family spokesman, told NBC News.

The quickest 10 count in the history of boxing was when Foreman went down from exhaustion. Foreman was getting up when he the fight was called. And let’s never forget that Ali never gave Foreman a rematch. He knew the same tricks would not work a second time around. Doug Jones, who should have won the decision when they fought, also never got a rematch.

How many times did we watch him cower and cover in the corner for 12 of 15 rounds and then still win the fight on a decision???

I always wondered what a boxing match would look like if both boxers "boxed" like Ali. I don't think that a single blow would have been thrown. Both would just dance around and stay away from each other.

Is that graphic on IQ Score Distribution correct? Where did it come from, who developed it?

On a TV interview after his fight with Chuck Wepner
Ali used the word “spic” in referring to referee Tony Perez.

Vietnam was just a violent intelligence gathering exercise where US citizens drafted were used as political pawns/games. Anger should be directed at the entity that caused the useless deaths, rather than those who reacted.

What is worse: Politicians/contractors/intelligence agencies who had no desire to win while sending citizens off to die or US citizens calling their "patriotic" bluffs?

"A highwayman is as much a robber when he plunders in a gang as when single; and a nation that makes an unjust war is only a great gang." -Benjamin Franklin

China was the center of gravity in that region (Only means of winning was destroying that COG), but WWII fatigue along with the evolving nuclear threat rendered the US hopeless. Should of just stuck with fortifying Taiwan and Japan then waited.

After Jimmy Young gave Ali a boxing lesson to end all boxing lessons and Ali collected his fraud “decision” from Don King’s judges,

Ali never gave Young a rematch,

Then when Young went on to beat Foreman, Ali still refused to give Young a rematch.

***and I am sorry that he is in the place where he is now. ***

I’ve read that the dead from Phoenix often return to pick up their blankets as they consider hell too cold for them. (OLD joke).

It wasn’t a “conversation.”

It was a “speech” Ali gave surrounded by his black muslim handlers in front of a theater in Elizabeth, New Jersey at a time when he had just lost to Ken Norton.

The little bit he said before he got back on the bus for his next stop was bitter and angry and filled with racial epithets.

The braggart was hated by everyone, even the media, until he came out as a draft dodger. Suddenly the MSM rehabilitated him form loud mouth braggart to a beloved sports figure.

He was converted by Elijah Mohammed in one visit in jail. Went in a Baptist, came out as a black moslem iman teacher who was anti-war. Who ever heard of an anti-war moslem iman conscientious Objector! If so, he could have been a medic or spent his two years working in a hospital.

If drafted, the sports writers of the time said he would be too valuable to send to Vietnam. He would be used for Public Relations purposes and boxing demos.
I rank him right up there next to treasonous WALTER CRONKITE, JAME FONDA, CASSIUS CLAY MOHAMED ALI.

If Ali had gone into the service, he would have fought exhibitions for the troops—as Joe Louis, Billy Conn, Tony Zale did during World War Two.

Ali fights a Japanese wrestler who chose to fight while on his back. He was NOT knocked down. All Ali could do is make faces.

“Jimmy Young gave Ali a boxing lesson to end all boxing lessons at the Capittol Center in Laandover Maryland”

You are so right MarvinStinson!! Jimmy won that fight. Jimmy Young always had four opponents in every fight...besides his boxer opponent, he had to take on the usually incompetent judges who loved to screw him over.

You can Google any IQ distribution, and they all follow that general trend (except the PC ones).
