To me, he was one of, if not the, greatest athletes I’d ever seen.

Quick, fast, sharp, talented, both physically and mentally, as well as witty and funny. I’ve never seen anyone quite as athletic as he was. I loved watching him box. Nobody like him.

I guess he’s in a better place if he got his 72 virgins. But I doubt that happened.

Actually the most important prayers are for the souls of the deceased.

Isn’t it amazing how quickly the self anointed “Christians” in glass houses throw stones?

His soul was NEVER in your control. Nor mine.

He suffered greatly in his last years, RIP. I give credit to his wife who cared for him. He was certainly one of the greatest boxers, IMHO.

I met him at a department store in Northridge, CA back in the 80s when he started a line of cologne. He looked pretty frail then. RIP.

Thanks Captain Obvious. Now quit flinging stones, look to your own heart, pray for his soul, and be Christian about it.

clay is off lookin' for his virgens. He left the faith: I doubt he ever knew Jesus or he wouldn't side with the child-abuser mohammud.

While Clay was banned from boxing he was essentially broke. Joe Frazier practically financially supported Clay during that time.

When he turned on Joe Frazier he got on to my Sith list.

Regardless of his religion the guy was a great man and will be fondly remembered.

Against Liston it was...

I’ll Float like a butterfly
And Sting like a bee
His hands can’t hit
What his eyes can’t see.

But this was his best one IMO (also before the Sonny Liston fight:

Clay comes out to meet Liston
and Liston starts to retreat,
if Liston goes back an inch farther
he’ll end up in a ringside seat.
Clay swings with his left,
Clay swings with his right,
Look at young Cassius
carry the fight
Liston keeps backing, but there’s not enough room,
It’s a matter of time till Clay lowers the boom.
Now Clay lands with a right,
What a beautiful swing,
and the punch raises the Bear
clean out of the ring.
Liston is still rising and the ref wears a frown,
For he can’t start counting
till Sonny goes down.
Now Liston is disappearing from view,
The crowd is going frantic,
But radar stations have picked him up,
Somewhere over the Atlantic.
Who would have thought
when they came to the fight?
That they’d witness the launching
of a human satellite.
Yes the crowd did not dream,
when they put up the money,
That they would see
a total eclipse of the Sonny.

Hitler was a great man. How fondly is he remembered?

Not really. I’ve known many 6 day a week sinners that attend church every single Sunday. Dated a couple even.

Married a girl like me. Christian but fed up with the Priests, Pastors, and Preachers in it for the money.

Our definition of "great" is obviously different. Hitler was evil.
