Germany declares 1915 Armenian killings a "genocide"

The German parliament has passed a symbolic resolution recognizing the 1915 massacre of Armenians by Ottoman forces as a "genocide."

The resolution was passed with a "striking majority" said President of the German Bundestag Norbert Lammert, with only one politician voting against it and one abstaining.

Between 600,000 and 1.5 million Armenians, and other minorities, are estimated to have been killed by what was then-Ottoman Turkey during World War One.

...

Germany's resolution is likely to place a strain on relations between Berlin and Ankara, and follows a recent migrant deal between Turkey and the European Union, in which Germany plays a central role.

Under the deal, for every Syrian refugee returned to Turkey from Greece, a Syrian refugee in Turkey is resettled in the EU. Turkey also agreed to take measures to prevent routes for migration opening from that country to the EU.

In turn, the EU could potentially lift its visa requirements for Turkish citizens by the end of June 2016.

...

When France passed legislation recognizing the Armenian genocide in 2011, Turkey promptly recalled its ambassador to the country and froze military cooperation between the countries.

The ambassador returned the following year

...

As of last year, more than 20 countries around the world have officially recognized the killings of 1915 as a genocide, according to the Armenian National Assembly. These include France, Canada and Russia.

Among the countries which do not call the atrocities a genocide are the United States and Britain.

I remember a history documented where a representative of the Kaiser’s government was shocked & outraged by what the Ottomans did to the Armenians. It was part of a multi-part program on World War One. I’ll have to see if I can find it.

The fact that the entire world won’t label what happened their a genocide shows how insanely messed up humanity is.

There is no way you can look at the facts of what happened and label it anything else.

I hope the Europeans find the courage to tell Turky to straighten up or they will sever all ties and alliances with them and leave them open to any action from the Russians. It is a longstanding dream of Russia to seize both side of the Bosphorus Strait and secure access to the Med.

Go Russia!

Various groups have learned that by achieving “Genocide” status they can collect billions in reparations for group members

The first thing that will happen will be Edrogan sending a lot more refugees in spite of having been paid not to do so, armed "refugees" in fact, so he can claim resisting them is genocide.

The next question is what are the consequences for Turkey other than historical fact now being acknowledged as historical fact everywhere except in Turkey.

It almost seems like a hard out to make Turkey say no to joining the EU, after all the on again off again actions the EU does.

After the Cold War we should have kicked the Turks out of NATO, for at that point the outlived their usefulness.

During the Iraq invasion, when Turkey denied the 4th ID from landing and going through Iraq, we should have IMMEDIATELY cut off ALL funding and threatened to leave NATO if they didn't kick the Turks out.

Islam never does wrong. Islam never self-criticizes, that is only a Western disease.

In all these debates about Muslims I never have seen one talking head stand up and say “what about the one million dead Armenian Christians, slaughtered by armed Muslims because they were Armenian and Christian!” Muslims still claim there was no wrongdoing.

Islam is a human diminishing political ideology. It results in hideous outcomes, just read the histories in India and the slaughter of Hindus and others, that goes unsaid on a daily basis while Westerners caterwaul about the Crusades incessantly.

There is no music, their armies smashed musical instruments, their leaders ordered libraries burned, they have declared their novelists apostates who should die. Dance is forbidden, acting, singing, opera, none of this exists. Their poetry must be within Koranic constraints or the result is death. It is a dark and hideous form of imprisonment. It is why Edward Gibbon was to say that the greatest victory in the history of the world was when Charles Martel defeated the Muslims at Tours in 732 AD and then drove them out of France forever. That victory saved Europe from a thousand years of darkness. There would have been no Bach, nor Mozart nor Beethoven, nor opera, nor ballet, nor theater, just nothing but hate, rape, murder and slavery.

How long before they retract that due to pressure from muslims in Germany? I bet they will say that well, it wasn't really genocide genocide, it was just...a sort of religious misunderstanding...

To systematically destroy Islam would be ‘theologicide’. Okay, so? No. more like an Islamenoctomy.
