Germany declares 1915 Armenian killings a "genocide"

The German parliament has passed a symbolic resolution recognizing the 1915 massacre of Armenians by Ottoman forces as a "genocide."

The resolution was passed with a "striking majority" said President of the German Bundestag Norbert Lammert, with only one politician voting against it and one abstaining.

Between 600,000 and 1.5 million Armenians, and other minorities, are estimated to have been killed by what was then-Ottoman Turkey during World War One.

...

Germany's resolution is likely to place a strain on relations between Berlin and Ankara, and follows a recent migrant deal between Turkey and the European Union, in which Germany plays a central role.

Under the deal, for every Syrian refugee returned to Turkey from Greece, a Syrian refugee in Turkey is resettled in the EU. Turkey also agreed to take measures to prevent routes for migration opening from that country to the EU.

In turn, the EU could potentially lift its visa requirements for Turkish citizens by the end of June 2016.

...

When France passed legislation recognizing the Armenian genocide in 2011, Turkey promptly recalled its ambassador to the country and froze military cooperation between the countries.

The ambassador returned the following year

...

As of last year, more than 20 countries around the world have officially recognized the killings of 1915 as a genocide, according to the Armenian National Assembly. These include France, Canada and Russia.

Among the countries which do not call the atrocities a genocide are the United States and Britain.

The best prescription for this is to destroy their own country with millions of Muslim invaders.

The head of the Turkish military in WWI embarked on a disastrous attack. Much of the Turkish military was killed by bad weather and starvation rather than enemy action. But the officer in charge blamed the Armenians. To take revenge and deflect attention from his own incompetence he ordered the Armenian genocide. It was well documented at the time and has never been in doubt among non-Muslim observers.

The thing is, what he did was not condemned by Islam. Instead it is the Islamic default action when things don’t go well. I think that is the root of the Turkish angst. If the world learns too much about the realities of Islam and its unquestioned tenants, the world will fight back until there is no Islam anymore.

Turkey will retaliate by opening the floodgates with more refugees.

To systematically destroy Islam would be ‘theologicide’. Okay, so?

Uh, oh. I think this will be used to make Turkey a part of the EU - “There, we dealt with a bad issue in the past, now everyone can wash their hands of it and forget about it. Now we are ready to move on and accept Turkey in the EU.”

After the Cold War we should have kicked the Turks out of NATO, for at that point the outlived their usefulness.

The Muslims will nod and say, “You made us kill you.” to the Germans.

Why Obama won’t say ‘Armenian Genocide’

It took hundreds of thousands of lives before Obama and Kerry could call what is happening in Syria and Iraq genocide. This was happening before our very eyes. Everyone could see it but this administration. I don’t expect these clowns to jump calling anything else genocide.

Truth is, Obama, Kerry, and Hillary were okay with the genocide in the region.

“After the Cold War we should have kicked the Turks out of NATO, for at that point the outlived their usefulness.”

Organizations, like cancer, always get larger. They never say, “you know, maybe we should get back to our core purpose and stop all this extraneous activity.” Each increase in size or budget creates a constituency that is slurping at the trough. For example, I worked for several companies that built listening equipment that was moved to the mountains around Turkey overlooking Russia. Many also had lucrative contracts building and/or maintain Turkish equipment. What would their well funded lobbyists do to protect that business? Any politician voting against their interest would face a colossal headwind when running for office. Politicians are adept at spotting problems like this and avoiding them. To whose advantage would a Turkish exit be. Humanity, maybe, but humanity doesn’t have a lobby.

Just a fair return fire for the German Genocide that Turkey is gleefully engaging in.

And for the record, can anyone tell me whose side the Ottoman Turks fought in World War 1?

Yes, you there in the back...you’re right! It was the Central Powers, led by...

...Germany.
