Some Yale University students are demanding changes to the English Department curriculum: specifically, they don't think it should feature so many English poets who were straight, white, wealthy, and male.
"It is your responsibility as educators to listen to student voices," the students wrote in a petition to the faculty. "We have spoken. We are speaking. Pay attention."

They should all be expelled for incompetence. Despite enjoying the privileges of a “Yale education” they have not managed to learn much of value. They have proved themselves unfit for the major they purport to study.

Actually it is the faculty's responsibility as educators to instruct and teach, and it is the student's responsibility to learn. Nowhere in any effective system of education is it the student's prerogative to decide what is important to learn.

They forgot “brilliant”. I know, a small thing, but still something they’re personally devoid of.
Remove all the bathrooms from the school. Far too much white male influence in the creation of those.
What do the words ENGLISH DEGREE mean to these students? Isn’t the degree supposed to pertain to the mastery of the language of the white “race” which has spoken English for centuries?
Really what this amounts to is the Left is trying to snuff out the cultural accomplishments of western civilization.

It is almost as if Universities don’t want to educate but indoctrinate. So they will most likely give in to the demands.
Nevertheless, to affect surprise that English literature has its origin in the English language and hence in English people, who tended not to be distributed along any demographic lines approved by modern Diversity Departments, is a level of ignorance scarcely less than tattooing IDIOT to the pertinent undergraduate forehead. One might as well protest the lack of Asian artists in a class on tribal African dance.
It is a practice nearly universal among modern university faculties actually to profess some knowledge in the field for which they are designing classes. That is, after all, what "Professor" means. Small children are far more adept at identifying what they want than what they need, and unfortunately, the students responsible for this miserable little screed are far more reminiscent of petulant brats than more or less responsible young adults, and should be treated that way.
