Fox News blew away its competition for the third month this year, new Nielsen data shows.
For the 3rd month this year @FoxNews was the most-watched basic cable net. That hasn't happened since 2003. pic.twitter.com/r6oxJj3ieL— TVNewser (@tvnewser) June 1, 2016
Fox took full advantage of this entertaining election season, producing some fascinating interviews with the candidates and the numbers speak for themselves.
MAY 2016 VS. MAY 2015 NIELSEN NUMBERS (7 day week, L+SD): TOTAL DAY FNC: 1,165,000 total viewers up 19% (216,000 in 25-54 up 11%) CNN: 584,000 total viewers up 33%; (173,000 in 25-54 up 20%) MSNBC: 481,000 total viewers up 61%; (124,000 in 25-54 up 49%)
Hannity ranked second in the demo in May, while Outnumbered -- a daytime news talk show that regularly features Townhalls own Katie Pavlich and Guy Benson -- delivered the largest increases year-over-year in viewers, up 23 percent in total viewers (1,352,000) and up 3 percent in the 25-54 demo (214,000).
The Fox Business Network has earned its own bragging rights. Not only are FBN ratings up 100 percent, but the network recently added 1.5 million subscribers.
One show in particular underscores FBNs overall success. Mornings with Maria, hosted by Maria Bartiromo, is only a year young and has been absolutely killing it at the 6 a.m. time slot.
I just had a meeting with my boss last week. Were up 120 percent and the demo is up 140 percent, Bartiromo told TVNewser. So the show has been gaining great traction.
Much of the networks success, the host explained, is thanks to their decision to focus on the 2016 race - not just the stock market.
What FBN is doinga lotis covering the 2016 campaign. Bartiromo believes politics fits right into the networks sweet spot, mixing coverage of news and business. I dont see another channel thats able to walk this balance with markets and politics, she told TVNewser. I feel Fox has great credibility not just on business, but the political story.
Meanwhile, CNN and MSNBC are fighting for second place
Fox Business Channel did the best job with the GOP debates.
FBN >>>>> Fox News.
I didn’t notice that. :) I hate auto-correct too.
She looks like Sophia Loren to me. That isn’t a bad thing.
Fox business has its silly moments, but it is 1,000% better than the drivel the idiots spew on Fox and Friends.
I’ve gone completely FBN. Bartiromo, Varney, Dobbs, Payne, Trish Regan are intelligent, well-spoken and it’s obvious they are enjoying their work. The difference between Fox Business and Fox News is about 40 IQ points.
I still watch Judge Jeanine, Hannity, and occasionally BOR on FNC but that’s it.
P.S. to the Fox execs: Replace Megyn Kelly with Trish Regan. Trish is smarter, prettier, and doesn’t giggle like a stoned Valley girl.
Kennedy is a wonderful alternative to Blowhard Bill, when she’s on her meds and not having 90s flashbacks.
I don't get it. For over a year, FNC has been devoting about 95% of their airtime to rehashing daily election polls, parading the same tired old political pundits on, and basically ignoring most of the important news that's really out there. Now they've tasked FBN with doing the same thing.
Who can watch this junk day in and day out? I sure can't. I miss the days when news channels reported actual real news and events.
I often change Fox News, not because I don’t like it but because of that stupid “My Pillow” commercial. No other cable network or network plays the commercial. The pillow btw sucks and is not worth the money
I’d have to agree with your wife....Maria is heavily overmade.
Lou Dobbs and Kennedy for me.
...because people moved from BlondeNews to a place 100 IQ pts higher
I like that ...”BlondeNews”
Take that Dana Perino
Trish Regan is a smart cookie.
Yeah, I tune it out. I treat FBN as more of a source of background noise.
At least for me, it’s because regular Fox is almost unwatchable. Airheaded women babbling and giggling, or it’s how much Trump sucks and im an idiot for liking him.
I often switch over to Fox business.
2nd that.I only watch FB.That one is still fair and balanced.
“.....but because of that stupid My Pillow commercial. No other cable network or network plays the commercial. The pillow btw sucks and is not worth the money.”
I thank you for reminding me of something I’d almost forgot about since I don’t watch TV: all the incredibly stupid commercials! Argh! So glad I don’t find myself reaching for the mute button anymore!
There’s times I just want to veg out in front of a screen, or use it to put myself to sleep. So I found a DVD set of 150 old B&W westerns for under $10. Last week I watched some of the series “Annie Oakley” and some nights this week it’s been “The Adventures of Jim Bowie”. In these series, the characters talk about not wanting to be late for Sunday school, or trying to do God’s will. It’s like entering a whole different time! But one of the very best parts is no commercials! Well, I take that back... In one episode of Annie Oakley the people who put the DVD collection together decided to leave in one of the original commercials. It was for Canada Dry Ginger Ale, but rather than being stupid and annoying, it had Annie and her little brother Tag talking about how refreshing Canada Dry is. What a contrast!!!
