And, in a bit of somewhat-related news, there is a western lowland gorilla named Koko that is 44 years old, born at the San Francisco Zoo July 4 1971, that knows more than 1,000 examples of American Sign language, which her care-giver refers to as Gorilla Sign Language (GSL), who is still enjoying life, complete with pets, and will soon turn 45 years old.
