Why not start now? In politics, a few weeks can be a lifetime. You can bail water out of a boat, but if you have a bunch of hole drillers making new holes it does make it a little harder to save the boat. Maybe you should offer your advice to the hole drillers.

Yeah, I don’t think it will happen in “a few weeks” either. Trump has had the nomination wrapped up for quite some time, if he was interested in uniting people, he would have started doing it by now.
