Support for Britain to stay in the European Union stood at 51 percent, five points ahead of support for a withdrawal from the 28-member bloc but down from a 13-point lead a week ago, an ORB poll for the Daily Telegraph said.
Support to leave the EU grew by 4 points to 46 percent according to the poll published on Monday for Tuesday's edition of the newspaper.
Britons vote on June 23 on whether to remain in the EU, with important implications for its trade, economic and political status.
Writing in the newspaper Lynton Crosby, the political strategist behind Prime Minister David Cameron's election victory, said the campaign focus on migration over the past seven days had boosted the Leave campaign.
"Increasing focus on lack of control over immigration" had helped to boost support for the "Leave" campaign, he said.

Murdoch changed his mind
The evil troll supports the EU now.
As I said, I am torn on this. I HATE the Daily Mail and Express slagging off East European immigrants because, hey, I've been married to a Polish girl for 20 years.
Politicians who speak loudly in favor of Brexit like those in the ranks of the Tories (Boris Johnson) will maneuver some sort of deal to stay in the EU after a vote for exiting the EU.
They will also likely depose David Cameron from power as PM since a referendum defeat would be seen as a sign of Cameron’s weakness as a leader.
The people who really oppose the EU like Nigel Farage of UKIP are being marginalized by the dog and pony show politicians in the “Conservative Party”.
Part of the ‘dog and pony show’ of putting through a NO vote, then staging negotiations and a deal to stay in afterwards with a new referendum.
Murdoch got burned badly by Trump in this country and he needs to fool the grassroots people of the UK to keep them using his media.
What’s really funny is that he’s afraid of Christian influence getting strong enough to come take away all the sins he loves the most. Imagine for instance a concerted effort by ISP’s to refuse service to websites that promote abortion or perversion or pornography as part of their TOS. The liberals would start screaming so loud the Martians would look up and wonder what was the ruckus.
Blimey, you haven't a clue. I wouldn't trust an Abrahamic Monotheist of whatever tradition further than I can throw them. - they're always too ready to say that they're right and everyone else is wrong. And because you're Wrong, you get chopped up.
That manifests itself in the Muslim world with massacres. You Christians used to do that sort of thing a few hundred years ago until, thankfully, you lost power, but give you half a chance and you'd be at it again.
Not fake polling, despite perceptions, pollsters do try and get it right. Though some will shape the interpretation of the results toward thier preferred outcome. Nobody pays for inaccurate data, as no matter your bias, if your data is bad, the decisions you make will be bad as well. However, in a world of cell phones, getting a truly representative sample is getting more and more difficult.
British polling, specifically, has been notoriously difficult. Polls were very inaccurate for both the Scottish independence referendum and the last general election.
I suspect that they are similarly skewed and the British people will vote to leave the EU by a clear, if not overwhelming majority.
Buddy of mine, a native Brit living there now says that Cameron is desirous of the top spot in the EU.
Not a sure thing that the vote will go for Brexit. My friend says the average Brit is not all that bright. Something Americans share with their cousins, apparently.
You'll still be able to travel around Europe if Britain leaves. I'm sure having to spend an extra five minutes having your passport checked, though inconvenient, is a small price to pay for your country's freedom.
And that would be different from secularist attitudes in what way?
