Really?! Touting the MIG-21?!
Laughable.
The next step is unmanned fighters, in which g-forces are not an obstacle.
The F-15 and F-16 designs are 40 years from first flight, and still selling.
Interesting!
When I lived in Tidewater Virginia in the 80s the Virginia Air National Guard transitioned from the F-106 to I guess the F-15.
The Virginian-Pilot newspaper did a story on it and the pilots were all sorry to leave the F-106s. They described it as “the Cadillac of fighters”. Apparently comfortable and pleasant to fly.
The article is talking more about the modernized equipment the MiG-21 carries, not the actual platform. If you could put modern weapons systems on a P-47 (for example), it could compete with any similarly equipped airplane. Plus, any country can afford MiG-21’s, they just have to pay for the advanced systems.
It’s called “target practice” by F35 pilots
