When did conservatism require a person to be a self righteous idiot fool?
These people are dense and are the reason that the rest of the country mocks conservatives and laugh when they repeatedly lose elections.
As a true fool, I'd like to explain my reasoning. In the People's Republic of Maryland, there was no chance at all that either big-government "moderate" would win my state. I decided that I would rather protest vote for the libertarian rather than express support for terrible nominees. In a swing state, I would have held my nose. In a liberal lock state, I'd rather cut the vote totals reported for weak nominees that I despise.
