On a more serious note...conservatism needs no priesthood, and the Medveds, Krystals, etc, are not the keepers of the faith.

They have been weighed and found wanting. Trump is a vote of non-confidence in the 'priesthood' and the politicians.

It is not we who must justify ourselves to them.

Correct. Even though social issues are part of the official party plank, once the President is sworn in, he can ignore them. That's why the noise the GOPe is making about influencing the party plank (chamber of commerce cronyism, open immigration, full funding for fags) at Trump's convention is so funny. Trump is going to do what Trump wants once sworn in, and the GOPe is going to be locked out.
