LAS VEGAS (AP) -- From shootings on the Strip to the killing of a liquor store clerk who couldn't open a safe to an April weekend that saw five slayings in separate cases, crime is spiking in the shadows in Las Vegas - and spurring questions about causes and cures.
The local sheriff, police union officials and district attorney have various theories about what's behind the body count: 64 homicides by the end of April, compared with 29 killings after the first four months of 2015; 75 slayings as of Wednesday, compared with 45 by the same date last year.

KFi John and Ken said some in Vegas blame prop 47 in Cali. Early release.
Call Dirty Harry...Oh wait...wrong Dirty Harry!
That’s why the Scriptures call Satan the ‘Ruler of THIS world”..................
My thoughts exactly.
You nailed it entirely.
A big problem is that crime has really spiked in certain parts of the Las Vegas area—especially Las Vegas Blvd. between the Stratosphere casino resort and downtown and in North Las Vegas. It’s like Chicago, where the South Side has a very high crime rate compared to the rest of the city.
We switched to Laughlin. Quiet and you can gamble in peace. No kids!!!
Chicago with showgirls.
i took a long walk past the Stratosphere one hot sunny afternoon...i felt like I was in another country.
i have no idea why someone would choose the Stratosphere as their Vegas destinations...or Circus Circus for that matter lol
IT’S A DEMOGRAPHIC THING.
Since when did the Amish take up gambling.
Get rid of the rampaging Mexicans, problem solved.
More fear uncertainty and dread from the indian reservations and macau, all of whom compete with the great City of Las Vegas.
Viva Las Vegas!
Maybe the cops are looking the other way to save their careers? Unless the Mexicans are attacking old white women in broad daylight, they should look straight ahead and keep driving. They can pick up the pieces later and one or more gang bangers gone to never return.
They moved OShea’s a few hundred feet from the strip and into the promenade leading to the High Roller carousel. It still attracts a loud crowd.

I have ONE theory......MEXICANS
Who do these fools think that they are kidding?
Oh yeah...
i’m sure it’s a fun, nice place...but not the awesome dive bar the old place was.
i used like how it was so close to the sidewalk.
is the Peppermill still there?
that place was pretty cool.
I am so broke right now ugh...
i want to go back!
I hear that North Vegas is like East St. Lois or Memphis.
