If this debate actually happens, it will be a disaster for Hillary. Few people will remember what was said, but the pictures taken of Sanders and Trump smiling and shaking hands will have an immense effect on the millennials who support Sanders. Many will end up supporting Trump.
I predicted a bidding war.

I think it is pure genius and a chance for both men to stick it to Hillary. Hillary will be the biggest loser and both men can unload on her and she will not be there to defend herself. Bwahahahahahaha

Trump needs to win the election. Forget the role of VP after the election - it is largely ceremonial and pointless. As long as Trump stays alive (and that’s a BIG if) Sanders would never be VP. In even four years, Sanders will be too old to run again.
Both would achieve a dearly held objective - keeping Hillary out of the White House.
I can think of no one else who could deliver more votes as VP than Bernie Sanders.
Whatever network gets it, the “moderators” will be heavily stacked anti Trump.

Of course they are interested... Trump does not need to give bernie that kind of audience to spiel his free stuff the kids want. I want to tell those kids “You are voting for me and every person who is working at a job... to pay for your keep. You want to live off the lamb and send this country into socialism for YOU.”
