I don’t agree with you about trade, but I don’t call you a “traitor” for supporting tariffs. Tariffs are a tax on consumers.
So if the economic situation is that bad and dire then why not?
Old people are afraid of a little inflation even if it save the country economically. They want their cheapo crap until they croak. Even though the stuff we import is only cheap quality and not price. Even if the country falls off the economic cliff they will hold the Free Traitor line. The word traitor fits like a glove.
