Not speaking out against evil is perceived as condoning it. Speaking out against it where it will not be heard by those to need to hear it ineffective.

“I do not see Conservative protestors showing up to shout at Hillary.”
1. We work FT jobs and save our money.
2. We don’t want to be like them (in more ways than we could possibly cover in one day).
That’s why The Donald has millions of us hooked. He has the money, the time, and the gumption to do what we cannot, and he only answers to us. He’s a genius for tapping into the decades-long anger.
Next we get to watch him slowly and subtly show the “Feel the Bern” crowd that he represents them, too. They just don’t know it yet.

Oh no, not the writers! Everyone knows the writers are the smartest of the smart! /sarc off

There are 400 writers who I will not buy books from now.
I have never read anything by any of them except Stephen King. Quit reading his stuff decades ago as it is all repetitive horror drivel.

Nothing wrong with Speaking Out, put harassing supporters is not the way, And what’s the point of a petition anyway, as if some stupid petition should override the votes of millions?

She is in a band with Stphen King, they are friends.
To: Bloody Sam Roberts
Could have ben worse. The writers could have endorsed Trump.

The comments at R.S. are AMAZINGLY pro-Trump. I’m not exactly sure of what to make of it, if it’s a grass-roots, ground-swell of support for Trump by people you make the effort to post comments, or if such pro-Trump blogging is somehow being orchestrated.

"A group of more than 400 writers, including big names such as Stephen King, David Eggers, Amy Tan, Junot Díaz and Cheryl Strayed, released an online petition on Tuesday to express their opposition to Mr. Trumps candidacy on the grounds that he is appealing to the darkest elements in American society." Wow Stephen King has written novels about rape, murder, child molestation, etc. But he claims Trump appeals to the darkest elements in American Society.
Hypocrisy much, there Steve-o?

(Donald Trump. Because it's finally come to that.)
To: Bloody Sam Roberts
The rise of a political candidate who deliberately appeals to the basest and most violent elements in society, who encourages aggression among his followers, shouts down opponents, intimidates dissenters, and denigrates women and minorities, demands, from each of us, an immediate and forceful response, they wrote. So don't vote Bernie or what's her face...

I noticed that, too. Very deliberate. It’s designed to plant a false image of Trump’s supporters being the perps. Media knows exactly what they’re doing. It’s epecially effective combined with the word “violent”, along with video looping of these “violent Trump protesters” to go along with it.
100%. MSM is all 5th columnists.

400 writers vs millions of people voting for Donald Trump.
To: Bloody Sam Roberts
Yeah, right. When I see a list of 400 plumbers or 400 heavy-equipment operators, I’ll give it the same attention. These, like actors, are largely people who survive more on self-promotion than any actual intellectual merit. They have every right to their opinions, however ill-formed. They also have every right to my piece of the collective yawn that follows.

Lol!! Excellent point. And other than him, Richard Russo and Amy Tan (both of whom basically write the same story over and over again), those others aren’t exactly well known or beloved authors.
