I heard dead bodies are used as landmarks on Mt Everest. Serious!
The Ever Rest Cemetery. ;-)
One of the sherpas from the 1996 season died just off the trail. Apparently, he is called "green boots" because of the neon green of his snow boots. I can see it now, the leader of a climb spurring his climbers on:
"Almost there, folks! Let's push by green boots, and we'll summit just after dumbass vegan! Push on!!!"
There are hundreds on bodies all over the place on Everest. You can see photos people have taken of many on any internet search.
If you haven’t eaten yet, Google Bodies on Everest. Yikes.
Well, they don’t rot, and it’s a pain to bring them down, so yeah they probably do make good landmarks.
Yep. Just passing one of those bodies on your way up would cause me to turn back around. I don’t understand the thrill of mountain climbing.
