I see nothing on the list that sets Baltimore apart from, say, Seattle, also liberal, with a nearly identical list if you substitute local names. I avoid all larger cities myself but would favor Seattle of this pair because far fewer dangerous people inhabit the local environs.

Exactly! Every city has its plusses and minuses, its own history, its own contributions to society. My original comment was in response to someone who said he doesn't care if the whole liberal city burns down. I just think that kind of thoughtless comment ignores the real harm that would be done, and encourages people to give up on society instead of working to improve it. It's the comment of someone who's either a coward or has given up. Well, I'll readily admit to being a coward myself, but I'm not giving up.
