Well that display is downright beauty compared to something I saw at Hartsfield on my arrival there in July, 1995. I'm waiting for luggage at the carousel and a 6'3” man walks by in pink hot pants, a low cut tank top with copious chest hair exposed, wearing a blonde wig and sporting a 3 day beard. Years later I read that Atlanta is a center of activity in the field of transgender surgery. Lots of plastic surgeons and other specialists who help to bend genders are in practice there, and over the years I saw a lot of folks who were partway between some gender and another. All you can say is that it is a profound mental illness, one not likely to end well, despite all the efforts of plastic surgeons and psychiatrists. The good news is that mutations like these appear in a very small sliver of the population. The bad news is that they are the beneficiaries of the same legal and political movement that gays used to shove same sex marriage down our throats.
