Far-right leader Norbert Hofer ahead in Austrian presidential vote [51% to 49%)

Austrians have headed to the polle to elect a new president in run-of elections. Early results by one polling institute gave far-right candidate Norbert Hofer a marginal lead at almost 51 percent.

Norbert Hofer was projected to become Austria's first far-right president with 50.9 per cent of the votes, according to pollsters of the ARGE Wahlen group say. His lead over Green Party rival Alexander van der Bellen remains too narrow to call a definite winner.

Former Green party chief van der Bellen was projected to gain 49.1 per cent of the ballots. ARGE said they were fairly certain that van der Bellen would not be able to overtake Hofer, who has been serving as a deputy president.

Actually fascism is the use of military spending to keep the economy functioning, with the terms right and left being a matter of opinion only.

That's what makes neocon Robert Kagen's recent statement that Trump is a fascist, such a big lie.

On twitter they are saying (I think—it’s translated) the exit polls show that 60% of women voted for the Green candidate, Van der Bellen. Hofer gets 60% of the vote from male voters. So invariably they are making Hillary vs. Trump comparisons because as you know you cannot do any news story today without alluding to the U.S. election.

In Europe, Extreme Right just means anyone to the right of
David Cameron, Angela Merkle, Bernie Sanders, or the Swedish Government.

They are still counting in Vienna, which is typically Green. I’m sure a few Democratic party lawyers are out there on summer holiday finding boxes of ballots.

What happened in this case is that the general public left the typical winners (the center-right and center-left parties). It surprised everyone that four weeks ago....between the two of them....the most they could muster is 22-percent.

The public has stepped into a new dynamic....either extremely FOR refugees or extremely AGAINST refugees. Nothing else is really registering (pension reform, taxation, schools, infrastructure, etc).

For the center-left and center-right....they might be out of mainstream politics for a decade.

The other part of this story is that it also concerns Germany because five state elections go between Oct 2016 and May 2017, with the German national election by Nov 2017. It may very well condemn the German center-left and center-right parties....creating another dynamic of the Greens versus the AfD Party.

Hofer is ahead even in some districts of Vienna... so far he’s taking every state except one. It looks like he’s on the road to a decisive victory if not a blow out. This may be the shot heard around the EU. It could spread to Germany next year in the National elections. 67% in Germany already want Merkel out.

The vote counting is finished for today. All the votes left at the polling stations have been counted. Hofer (FPÖ) has 52% and van der Bellen ( the Greens and all the others) has 48%. That gives Hofer a lead by 144000 votes. However, no postal votes have been counted so far. A total of 880 000 postal vote cards have been handed out. I have been looking all over at the web-sites of the Austrian papers to see how many postal votes have been received, but no one has reported that number.

So, if 100% of the vote forms actually have been used then van der Bellen needs 58% of those votes to make up his deficit. The fewer postal votes the higher the percentage needed.

The postal votes will be counted tomorrow. Lots of fun and games remaining. We do remember what Stalin said about vote counters....

Sehr gut. Now it’s time to borrow some tactics from Soros and topple Merkel.

Don’t leave out the Commies. They’ve already retaken Thuringia. (Die Linke actually finished second to the CDU, but was able to put together a coalition with Die Grünen and the SPD which finished 5th and 3rd, respectively).

Almost sounds like the last 26 years, especially the last 15 years. We have been on a War footing till we are worn out.

The War of Terrorism is our modern version of the 100 Years War from the Middle Ages.
