GOP elite line up behind Donald Trump
Politico ^ | 05/20/16 | Alex Isenstadt

The Never Trump moment is over.

While a small group of Republicans has wrung its hands raw over the choice between the GOP’s nominee and Hillary Clinton, the party’s firmament – social and intellectual conservatives, the lobbyist and donor class, powerful operatives and outside groups – is increasingly getting in line behind Donald Trump.

Never mind that many of them complain about his bombastic and unpredictable political style. The thawing has slowly but surely begun - and it’s visible everywhere -- from mega-donors like Foster Friess rallying Republican governors to Trump, to Mitt Romney’s allies agreeing to raise money for him, to leaders of the Never Trump movement conceding their cause is lost.

“I am slow-walking the Donald Trump candidacy. It’s a very deliberative process. You can’t beat Hillary Clinton with nothing, and the question is can we fundamentally energize conservatives quickly and can we use our joint desires to unite to find a path forward,” said Ken Blackwell, a former ambassador in the George W. Bush White House and key figure in conservative circles who formerly advised an anti-Trump super PAC. “That’s very methodically playing out.”

"‘It’s a pretty simple calculus: Do you want to win or do you want to lose?’ one operative says."

I was hoping it would finally come to that.

GO TRUMP!

If it didn’t come to that, then there is no question that they were democrats that infiltrated the GOP leadership ranks.

Even now, I’m not so sure that they many aren’t democrat secret agents that are going through the motion of supporting Trump so as not to be too obvious. This to retain any influence they have for future elections.

The fact that Trump annoys all the right people is a real selling point. Art of the deal, and The Donald is like the artist Michelangelo.

Those that have not yet supported Trump have waited too long. They're through in the Republican Party. How nice of them to self-purge and save real Constitutional Republicans the trouble of having to do so to them.

Romney, Ryan, Kristol....now we know what they, among others, are.

His senses never left him.

I knew this would eventually happen.

The smart ones realize the most important aspect:

The voters have spoken.

They’ve selected Trump. 16 candidates and he’s the last one left standing, and as they dropped out he gained rather than lost on voter percentage.

They cannot oppose the voters’ choice. It was over after SEC Tuesday—it just took a couple of months to set it in stone.

For the rest of the #NEVERTRUMP, LOL!

You GOPe have tucked your tails and exposed your bellies to the dem/media EVERYTIME. NOBODY expects you to stand firm. Cave is what you do.

Proof; this article.

Goes to show that the People are a real driving force no matter what the GOPe thinks. It was the People who rejected McCain and Romney despite their having the full support of the GOPe/RNC, etc. When we speak early and loud, they have no choice but to listen and to fall in line if they have any sense of dignity/self-preservation (career-wise).

If We The People can get off our asses and stay standing up for a while, we can affect many positive changes - too bad we're a lazy lot who would rather ponder things instead of actively going after it like the other side does.

GO TRUMP!!! You have awakened us - gonna be hard to keep us awake, but you'll find a way.

And those are registered voters, which puts Trump ahead of Clinton by about 7% for likely voters—fantastic momentum and outside of the margin of error.

When Trump first announced his candidacy, I said it: The smartest thing the GOPe could do is jump on the Trump bandwagon.

Obviously L. Graham, Kasich, the Bushes, Romney, McCain, and other diehards are not smart enough to pass muster. They screened themselves out. Too bad about them.
