I suppose the fact that the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth had the facts on their side had nothing to do with their success.

John Kerry had to keep his mouth shut, could say nothing against a truth attack.

When George Bush declined to defend himself - and his supporters - from the frantic, insane BS accusations leveled against him by leftists, he essentially conceded that they were right. Even though they weren’t.

He put himself in the same position as Kerry was held to, even though he had the truth on his side. That visited a terrible injustice on those who helped him and believed in him, who had invested both money and career time in him.

Incredibly irresponsible. The sort of thing you do when you have everything given to you throughout your life, instead of building it yourself.

You won’t fight for it when the time comes, because it doesn’t mean that much to you. You can always tap your ruby slippers and bail out to the gilded lifestyle your ancestors left you.

We vets got loads of laughter from the allegation that Bush’s reserve record was incomplete and thus fraudulent. Johnny, EVERYONE’s reserve service record is incomplete. When I turned 60 and went to the reserve base to apply for my military retirement after 28 years in the service as an officer, the computer system reported that I had been discharged as a seaman apprentice in 1985 after 17 years of service. Took a while to get it straightened out.
