Just who do they think they’re fooling? The European Union is defenceless without the assistance of the U.S.

The Europeans barely provide for their own defence as members of NATO.

Actually, their neighbors to the east are the biggest proponents.

I thought I looked at the total of all the EU countries and all of them together were equal to maybe 5% of our military.

You have to remember that being the second strongest military in the world is not that high a bar.

North Korea is Number 4, for example.

That’s idiotic, England has surrendered more than the French ever did. In World War 1 French casualties were number one on the allies and they held the Germans basically to where they stop them early in the war.

In WWII the French killed twenty-seven thousand Germans and wounded about 156000 total casualties during the six-week battle. The French sustained about 360000 total dead and wounded.
But the Brits are called heroic for fleeing the battlefield at Dunkirk and running away leaving the French on their own.

For extra fun with talk about the Battle of Singapore or the tea-drinking surrender monkey Army of 85000 surrendered to 36000 Japanese!

These idiots could not even bomb the proper forces in Libya. Frequently hitting their own rebel terrorist forces.

And yet, France hasn't won a single war in how many hundreds of years?

Yes, they had to be rescued in WWI. The only thing that held the Germans back was exhaustion yet the French Army had time to mutiny, abandon their lines, and run around Paris protesting.

WWII, a French collapse led to the lines crumbling and th Brits surrounded.

After 9/11, the French surrendered without even being asked. Of course, that is because they were illegally supplying materiel to Iraq. The only thing that lasts longer than a French promise is an ice cube in the Sahara. NATO anyone?

As for Singapore - 85000 troops on paper, maybe. That was comprised of consolidated Brit and Aussie units destroyed by three months of defending the peninsula mixed in with local new brigades that had zero training, little equipment, and no supplies. Defeat was just a matter of time.

But I must have stepped on sensitive French toes for such a reaction.

Do you believe that Russia would like a united Europe? Not under their control?

Well, OK, they could have the second most powerful military. Not on earth, but maybe in some vaguely earth-like universe. :)
