"Smith added that despite these concerns, Google should still be praised for thinking of the safety of individuals other than drivers and passengers. "The idea that cars should be safe for people other than the ones in them is the next generation of automotive safety," he said. "I applaud anybody for thinking, as they should, about people outside of the vehicle.""

Translate: "It's a lousy, unsafe, highly impractical idea, but Google is JUST WONDERFUL for thinking of it."

Why not also put a layer of beanbag chair filled with little edible rice based packing pellets about a foot thick under the human fly paper? The entire coating should be edible to feed the hapless pedestrian in case they are hungry.

“Wouldn’t you need to drive for at least several miles with a possibly screaming victim on your hood?”

Oh definitely. Makes about as much sense as human fly paper on the front of cars. In indication of the level of insanity that passes for reasonableness these days. I probably should have added a sarcasm tag but it’s getting harder and harder to see the difference, I’m so fed up.
