That report made no sense...no way a libertarian could win, it’s a “protest vote”... They would have no reason to fund that. Might as well take the money out in the back yard and burn it.

Once again, why were George W. Bush and John McCain "libertarian" enough for Koch Brothers funding while Trump isn't? It's true that Trump isn't an economic libertarian, but no GOP nominee since Coolidge has been a laissez-faire economic purist or an unconditional opponent of the welfare state, not even Reagan, and certainly not anyone nominated since Reagan.

This leaves immigration and trade as the only possible reasons why the Kochs were willing to support less than ideologically pure Republicans in the past while refusing to support Trump. They've even said that they may prefer Hillary Clinton, implying that cheap immigrant labor has become THE decisive litmus test for many so-called economic "libertarians."
