After weeks of delays, House Republicans are moving forward with legislation to help Puerto Rico manage $70 billion in debt.

A revised bill introduced late Wednesday would create a control board to help manage the U.S. territory’s financial obligations and oversee some debt restructuring. Though it is the third version of the legislation, those objectives remain unchanged.

House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Rob Bishop, R-Utah, has led negotiations on the bill and has worked closely with House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wisc., congressional Democrats and the White House. The aim has been to write legislation that could pass both the House and the Senate before Puerto Rico defaults on a $2 billion debt payment due July 1. …

Perfectly correct. A haircut for the “insiders” who feathered their own nest is in order.

I think the taxpayer deserves to know who issued the debt under what guarantees and who gets paid back from tax dollars

After delays, House GOP moves forward to help Puerto Rico rob the fiscally responsible taxpayers to benefit the democrat politicians of Puerto Rico

Once again the GOP showing the spines of jelly fish squanders our hard earned money.

The aim has been to write legislation that could pass both the House and the Senate...

That shouldn't be too hard. After all, Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell were all too happy to support the biggest budget bill ever, in honor of President Obama. They also gave Obama the TPA with Cruz even voting to give $150 BILLION to Obama’s extreme radical friends in Iran.

Cruz, McConnell, and Ryan love Obama’s bad positions. I don't see how Republicans won't gladly give little PR it's full desires, too.

Republicans are sick in the head.

PR is like a failing division of a company - either shut it down, sell it off, or spin it off. I hope Trump is smart enough to see this and since it cannot be shut down or sold, the only logical choice is to spin it off and be done with it. PR is nothing but a taxpayer money sinkhole.

Thanks for pic.

Love great radio sites.

Have EME friends in OK, they have been to Greenbank and some other sites.

I’ve been to Goldstone and the VLA sites. Got a very early tour of VLA site when only 3 of the dishes were operational. They had cyro front ends in the beginning, GASFETs cured that problem. But even then we had problems with direction of our “science” efforts. It turned into an appropriations enterprise, real science was secondary.

>did we send an “Economics 101” text book to every “citizen” there???????

Citizen THERE? We need to send ‘em to F* CONGRESS (and copies of the Constitution).

Though, I suspect, we’ll need someone to actually READ it to ‘em....they seem to rarely read anything they vote on these days anyway.
