How much money is being wasted on this boondoggle? Meanwhile, infrastructure that the private sector wants to build, such as the Keystone Pipeline, is being blocked.

This is a giant mafia boondoggle. Can you imagine the money a four year overrun costs?

I am not a fan of high-speed rail, BUT....

This used to be a country that could get big things done.

We built the Golden Gate Bridge in four years.
We put a man on the Moon in nine.

Now we can’t even get the permits lined up to build a flippin’ choo-choo train in less than a quarter-century.

The project is simply being shelved so the LA water interests can steal the bond money and spend it on THEIR hundred-billion-dollar boondoggle, the Delta Tunnels Project.

For my home state of CA, this is no surprise. Environmentalists and labor unions running the show.

It is just ANOTHER DemocRat sham. A near useless train for the sole purpose of creating UNION, tax-funded jobs to feed the DemocRat voter base in Taxifornia. Another fine piece of work by Jerry Brown and his mob in Sacramento.

And as usual, they do NOT have the money. More tax, more spend, more debt...driving people and jobs out of Taxifornia.

Who knew that they need to buy land for a train? Mistakes were made. They are conducting a thorough review. Insert a sentence with the word “accountable” in absolutely any sentence you wish to compose.

Desal plants would be a far better use of the money.

Maybe dam things up to save the precious rainwater instead of letting it run off into the ocean.

800 billion dollars over a decade or more just to build some stupid rail from LA to Sacromento.

By the time it gets built America will be a turd world banana republic and no one will be able to afford to ride it.

This is good news. Until they lay the actual track, much of the right-of-way purchased can be rededicated as hyperloop. (Not all of it... the hyperloop can’t make turns very well.)

Projected cost of rail: $68 billion to make the trip in 3 hours.
Projected cost of hyperloop: $6 billion (let’s say $10 for argument’s sake) to make it in 40 minutes.

“with a half dozen construction crews now building overpasses, relocating utilities, and demolishing structures from north of Fresno down to the Bakersfield area.”

Oh, never mind. Seriously, you guys are building the overpasses before you secure the right-of-way?

$3300 per inch.
$40,000 per foot
$210,000,000 per mile

It’s not a high-speed rail project, it’s a criminal act.

How much money is being wasted on this boondoggle?

Not a cent is being wasted. Once you understand that the goal is not to build a railroad, but to transfer money from the taxpayers into designated pockets, you will understand that it is really an extremely efficient program.

They don’t have an accepted route into SF. They don’t have a feasible or accepted route into LA. There are obviously dozens of further lawsuits just waiting in the wings ready to file against it if it ever looks threatening. They even have t explained how they’d separate the supposed 200 mph trains from the hundreds of cross streets and highways along the route. No, this silly pipe dream will be a long time off, if ever. Meanwhile. Everyone still can fly this “”four hour train route” in just one hour, using any of three SF bay area airports and six LA region airfields. Oh yeah, nobody’s shown us that folks will actually want to consume four or five boring hours on a train instead of one hour on a fast jet plane
