A FReeper commented earlier today that Venezuela has little refining capacity, and they rely on the US to refine their icky, low quality oil.

It does not have to be us “like that” next year.

Buy seed. Pull the decorative plants out of your garden surrounding your home. Plant the seeds and cultivate your food plants. Don’t believe you enough room to plant potatoes? You can build a wood potato condo that sits on nine square feet (3X3).

The doughty French have planted such home gardens for centuries, even during WWII.

God gave humans the ability to think. Unfortunately, too many of us do not bother with the obvious.

“Citizens are the government, I feel for them but not my country and its not my problem.”

I agree. Sounds like they have the same dilemma that we face. A socialist/Marxist president and a National Assembly they know will sell them down the river if one of those members became President.

Venezuelan oil is difficult to refine. It is very thick, almost tar-like and is loaded with sulfur which has to be removed. The US refineries are the only ones capable of refining it economically. I had read that the Chinese were going to upgrade their refineries to handle it, but that takes lots of time and money.......................

The 12 guys on the Politburo did fine, however, with summer homes and servants in the country. They thought everything was fine.

Chane the number of guys involved and it sounds pretty familiar, don't it?

It was harvest failures that ultimately got Khrushchev booted.

I’m pretty sure that picture is at least a month old. I have seen it before in previous posts.

Kruschev should never have been in the position. I think it was the missile crisis that closed the door on his premiership.

He was the guy who oversaw the starvation of the Ukraine in the thirties. Lots of grain harvested, little distributed to the Ukrainians. About 7.5 million died. Just a management technique.

I remember reading a story about Cuba many years ago how they are not allowed to catch fish in the ocean. This is a friggin Island nation surrounded by ocean water with lots of tasty fish and it’s illegal for the Cuban to go out and get his own dinner. A new take on teach a man to fish argument. Don’t let the man fish and he’ll be dependent on the socialist paradise that is Cuba....
