Venezuelan opposition leader Henrique Capriles has urged the army to choose whether it is 'with the constitution or with (President Nicolas) Maduro", after a state of emergency was declared.

President Maduro has announced a 60-day emergency, giving soldiers and police wider powers to deal with the country's sprialling economic crisis.

Mr. Capriles said the decree gave the president unconstitutional powers.

He called on Veneuelans to ignore it and take to the streets on Wednesday.

"We Venezuelans, will not accept this decree. This is Maduro putting himself above the constitution," Mr. Capriles told journalists.

"To impose this, he'd better start preparing to deploy the war tanks and military jets," he added.

"And I tell the armed forces: The hour of truth is coming, to decide whether you are with the constitution or with Maduro," he said.

'No referendum'

Mr. Capriles said the opposition was not calling for a military coup, but instead seeking a legal and constitutional way of ousting Mr. Maduro through a recall referendum........

We may be approaching a moment of truth in the coming hours as the opposition plans to take to the streets of Venezuela in defiance of the regime's decree of an emergency.

The opposition had collected two million signatures demanding Maudro's recall from office when he slapped on the 'state of emergency'.

If I was this Maudro character I’d open up negotiations with the opposition.

And once I had a few containers loaded with gold and whatever loot I could find (toilet paper??), I’d say “Okay - I resign. It’s all yours!” Assuming I had somewhere to go where I couldn’t be extradited.

In his latest blog post on “Veneuela News and Views”, Daniel Duquenal reports that the opposition controlled National Assembly voted last evening to annul Maduro’s emergency decree, forcing his packed Supreme Court to annul the annulment since Maduro does not have veto powers under Venezuela’s constitution.

Maduro is going full Hitler-Stalin with his decree since it gives his political party control of food distribution in coordination with the police. army and civilian ‘brownshirt’ auxiliaries to the increasingly hungry and hostile population.

From Daniel’s blog post:

“...One of the worrisome ones is that PSUV (Communist Party) committee for food distribution control, CLAP of recent creation, will have power to collaborate with army and police for public order. Translation civilians from Maduro political party will become gauleiters directing armed folks to control non-chavista folks, in particular those demanding a recall election. From denial of food to outright repression is how it will work....”

Marxist economy finally arrives - as all Marxist economies must - at the end of the road.

Meanwhile, obama and his heir-apparent, Hillary, hope for the same fate for the US - and work aggressively toward that end.

It’s an object lesson in simple reality which Americans ignore at their peril.

This is following to the last detail the runup to the military overthrow of Allende in Chile. Allende presumably committed suicide; Maduro is getting there.

Venezuela needs a Pinochet right now.

Yup, a right-wing ruler willing to put his nation first over the greed and evil of the Communists. Such a man must come in, wipe out the communists, hang them from street lamps, and stabilize the country by force of arms. There is no other way, and a country like Venezuela cannot be governed via democracy. Too corrupt and ruined by years of dictatorial rule by insane, stupid communists.

The opposition party seems to defer to their constitution, which is why they can’t overcome the corruption. You need a virtuous strong man in the interim to get things back where they should be, then step aside.

Pinochet was a hero to Chile but he was vilified by Leftists world wide.

The Progressive apologists are blaming the crash in oil prices for Venezuela's woes but in reality , the corruption and incompetence of Chavez and Maduro's Marxist kleptocratic governance and incomprtdnt crony management styles have destroyed the oil industry to such a degree that it cannot pump enough oil to sell at any price. It can't even pump enough oil to satisfy Venezuela's internal energy needs

They have similarly destroyed pretty much every other sector of the Venezuelan economy in a similar fashion< p>

“The Progressive apologists are blaming the crash in oil prices for Venezuela’s woes”

So their socialist paradise only works when the price of a certain commodity is high? And things started going downhill in Venezuela even back when oil was double what it is now.

Yeah, the Progressives are pretty much admitting that the only way Socialism can work is when a Socialist state has enough easily extractable natural resources to extract and sell to Capitalistic states

Which, BTW, is how Obama’ s socialistic “ Nordic States “ survive - lots of natural resources and a small enough population to spread the proceeds to while still maintaining enough to live on.

Same with Alaska in the US

Alaska has huge oil revenues and a tiny population so it can afford to give 6000 dollars a person to its year round residents

Still creates a lot of unemployed meth heads but the system works, kind of

Chile in 1973 comes to mind. I see a Salvador Allende moment in Maduro's future.

So the army’s choice is to support an out-of-control dictator or a dictatorial, communistic constitution. Nice country. Do not vacation there any time soon.

Let’s get to the real issue, shall we?

When will Maduro call Washington and ask (read: demand) assistance in putting down this ‘right-wing’. probably tea-party inspired revolt?

When will he blame it all on Trump?

And when will the occupant at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave respond in kind?

I figured that out long ago which makes me wonder why these socialists who all are much smarter than I am, I know because they tell me so, can’t figure it out.
