Michelle Obama blames scarce playgrounds for high crime, gun violence
Washington Examiner ^ | 5/17/16 | Paul Bedard

First lady Michelle Obama on Tuesday linked the lack of youth sports and playgrounds to higher crime and even gun violence. Appearing with her brother and sportscaster Michael Wilbon at the Newseum, she said that bored kids are turning to crime. "Why can´t we put those things together? Why are we confused about why crime rates are going up? It´s not a complicated set of scenarios, unless people don´t really understand just what a wasteland so many kids are living in in terms of activity. Maybe that´s the case. Maybe people look at their lives and think, well, if my

The problem:

American Black Culture as incentivized by white liberal elites.

Nothing to do with swings, swimming pools, or community centers.

"Why can't we put those things together?"

Um, well, I'm going to go with: there's no demonstrable nor reasonable connection or correlation. Just more wishful thinking and "gee this sounds neat, let's run with it" by another idiot libtard.

In Chicago a lot of the shootings/stabbings beat downs are on playgrounds. Remove playgrounds and those crimes will stop. We need playground control.

“she said that bored kids are turning to crime. “Why can´t we put those things together? Why are we confused about why crime rates are going up? “

Interesting. When I was bored as a kid, it never occurred to me to “turn to crime”. Instead, I:

1. Would go play in the woods, or

2. Build a dam across a little creek, or

3. Play Eliot Ness and the Untouchables with homemade wooden “machine guns” with my brother, or

4. Sell stuff I made in my workshop to my neighbors, or

5. Sell willow tree saplings to my neighbors that I had rooted from branches, or

6. Collected old newspapers for the paper drive, or

7. Rode my 22” one speed bike uphill (both ways it seemed) to the local Rexall drug store where I’d spend an hour figuring out how I could get the most candy for 25 cents, or occasionally splurge for a REAL cherry coke at the soda fountain, or

8. Get all the free Krispy Kreme doughnuts I could carry on my bike when the local Krispy Kreme closed on Christmas Eve and had to get rid of their remaining stock, or

9. Build treehouses from scrap lumber, or

10. Build “cabins” from scrap lumber, or

11. Build Igloos on the rare occasion it snowed enough, or

12. Hoard comic books purchased 3 for a dime at the local elementary school autumn festival, or

13. Throw gravel up in the air at dusk to confuse the bats, or

14. Collected pop bottles from beside the rural roads to turn in for hard cash, or

15. Have firecracker and bottle rocket wars with my brother, or

16. Work on my coin collection, though I never could afford much than working through the dimes, though i did have a few quarters (this was when pennies were copper, nickles were nickle, and the rest were silver).

[Come to think of it, I wasn’t actually ever bored at all. No wonder I didn’t turn to crime.]

What we have here is a whole passel of kids that aren’t in mortal fear for their very lives if their chores aren’t done by the time Mom gets home.

Vacuuming, dusting, sweeping and mopping floors, setting the table, making the dinner salad, taking out the trash, feeding the dog, walking the dog, pooperscooping after the dog, policing the yard, watering the flowers, sweeping the driveway, making beds, starting/folding laundry, cleaning rooms, cleaning bathrooms, cleaning tubs, polishing shoes, pulling weeds, cleaning the stove, wiping counters and appliances, organizing toys and dvds, writing a letter to grandmom, reading a book and writing a book report.

I can think of a kazillion chores to keep children of all ages occupied for 3 hours or so every single day. Reward? dessert - and values.

“First lady Michelle Obama….said that bored kids are turning to CRIME.”

I suppose the word WORK is not in Michelle’s vocabulary.
