My theory is that he won't pick a politician in order to maintain his outsider status. I know he's said that he would like someone with Washington experience but the VP can learn Washington at the feet of an experienced insider like Newt as chief of staff.

I wonder if Trump is playing a rope-a-dope with Ben Carson.There were a ton of conservatives breaking for Carson before his campaign fell apart. Yah, he's weak, but he's an outsider. He's moral. Will bring in cultural conservatives. Will dispel the lie that Trump is racist. Will maintain the outsider mystique.
