In the world view of a liberal, the utopian era began Jan. 20, 2009.
To talk about are “things better”, you have to talk about the criteria used for judgement.
If you want to talk about advances in science and technology and smart phones and all that stuff, then we can say things are “better” because look at how technology has changed our lives for the better.
If you want to talk about the economy, things are “worse” from the standpoint of how we have exported entire industries overseas in recent decades. Things are worse as per capita income has fallen.
If you focus on minority groups, including LGBT types, then there probably have never been a better time to be a member of such a minority as right now.
If you look at the breakdown of the family structure in this country in recent decades, things are far worse off.
The state of public education has declined, in spite of laws such as no child left behind and magnet schools and charter schools and all the rest.
So Obama can go around making self serving comments about how things are better in the last eight years, which corresponds to his presidency, but it all depends on what criteria we are judging by. He will judge by ever changing subjectively biased criteria which reflect on what he sees as the achievements of his presidency.
Exactly. We have a mentally ill POTUS who is well on his way to destroying America, following the lead of his two predecessors.
