In 1775, we declared war on England. The reason was obvious. The king and his court was strangling the colonies with taxes and regulations. There were two sets of laws - one for the colonists (harsh and unyielding) and one for the court (soft and forgiving). Of course, the king was above the law.

Some of the bravest men stepped forward and risked, life, health and wealth to right such a grievous wrong. They spoke out in no uncertain terms what they were committed to do.

“These are the times that try men’s souls: The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.” Thomas Paine

and finally,

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Declaration of Independence

Today, the conditions are little different than 1775. We have a king, above the law, and his court, forgiven much while the people are over-taxed and over-regulated. But where are the men willing to risk life, health and wealth? Where are the men speaking to our commitment to freedom? NOWHERE

Those men pop up occasionally ... then they get gunned down at a roadblock or tied up in court.
