You’re right. We’re at a turning point. So far Comey’s responses and the FBI’s leaks show he’s not going to take the deal.
The issue hear is way beyond the scope of the book and now the movie about Clinton cash. For one thing the FBI is said to have tracked each email back to the originator to determine the classification.
The money trails also had to be tracked and documented. When the FBI delivers the evidence I wouldn’t be surprised if it fills a large box truck, if not a tractor trailer.
Hillary must be prosecuted for the sake of the security of our nation and to begin to restore integrity and confidence in our governing bodies.
It's just that simple.

I was amazed at how everything he wrote match that’s happened so far. There was a meeting and a decision was made to proceed. None of what he wrote was fantasy with the possible exception of Comey’s imputed thoughts.
The time to stop the train was long ago. Comey already went full throttle and the engine is headed straight for DC. From the leaks, I’d say the braking system and the dead man was bypassed.

Anyone selected as Hillary’s running mate will be some far left loon. Selected to shore up the socialist/minority/felon/illegal alien wing of the party but completely unelectable outside of that wing of the party.
I understand the parties have rules to cover such instances, but I do not remember the Democrat having any qualms about changes rules to fit their ends.
Of course, I fully expect Hillary to be the nominee and Comey to retire a very wealthy man.
I think that the big problem is the number of crimes that Hillary has committed.
I think they have to keep investigating until they run down every crime Hillary has committed.
They also have to investigate everyone involved and look at all their crimes.
That’s a lot of investigating.
Then, they have to make sure every I is dotted and every t crossed.
They also have to give everyone involved the chance to come clean.

Hillary Clinton is a lying, thieving, bullying, dirty little snot lawyer.
That is exactly how she’ll behave on this.
The FBI knows that and is preparing for that.
Hillary knows she’s guilty. The Democrat leaders know she’s guilty. Everyone in the whole world knows she’s guilty.
She is also the most unlikeable person in the history of the world.
Yes, there are people who would vote for her. These are the same people who would vote for the dead Hugo Chavez if he ran for office as a Democrat. They aren’t tied to Hillary. The Democrats could run a sock puppet and these people would vote for it. Nobody will protect or defend Hillary. Nobody likes her.
Don’t forget the convention delegates must confirm Hillary’s running mate. If her selected nominee is ratified, the party would have reconvene the convention and annul their original confirmation. That is highly unlikely in my mind.
Obama isn’t protecting her because he likes her—he’s protecting himself from the dirt she has on him. If she falls, so does he, whether she’s breathing or not. That’s the only sort of leverage that explains what we’re seeing.

Both parties have rules that empower the standing national committee to name by majority vote a replacement presidential candidate, and neither party requires that it be the vice-presidential candidate.
Vacancies would be likely be filled by the national committee up until the Electoral College vote, although there are some murky details.
My thought is;
We are talking about the Democrat Party here.
You are assuming they will follow the rules. I am assuming they will do what they must do to in order to win.
However much I detest most Democrat politicians, I cannot envision them in these times of distaste of establishment leadership acting in a manner that would erode voter participation.
