I have always said that when anything becomes remotely scientifically possible, there is some scientist--somewhere--who will try to do it.
Ergo, chimera will soon be on the earth again...as it was in the days of Noah.
“...Dr Canavero hit back at the criticism ...”
One might say... he lost his head over the criticism...
Especially if you insist that you are a woman “trapped” in a man’s body and they put your head on another man’s body.
Just have Igor ready with the sedagives.
EGADS, you become a liberal?!
Head graftings have been done with dogs (Russia) and monkeys (United States).
The dogs lived for 2 weeks (before infection set in, 1950s). Don’t know how long the monkeys lived but that was in the 1990s.
Completely ignoring the fact that spinal cords do not regenerate.
Actually, they have found that electrical stimulation can cause new pathways.
Head transplant... is that something involved in what Bruce Jenner is doing?
You’d think they’d have tried it dozens of times with animals first, but AFAIK there hasn’t been a successful animal trial.
So I doubt this is going to go through.
ha ha....that movie
Your local quadriplegic might like to hear this great news. OH, wait....
FTA: "But Dr Canavero hit back at the criticism saying Valery will not only live with his new body, but will be able to walk within a year of the operation."
Apparently, the good doctor has a way around that little hiccup.
bump
Would it have to be a body of the same sex? Bruce Jenner is wanting to know...
also, whenever anything becomes remotely scientifically possible - the Chinese will try it first.

Experiments in the Revival of Organisms is a 1940 motion picture which documents Soviet research into the resuscitation of clinically dead organisms. It is available from the Prelinger Archives, where it is in the public domain. The British scientist J. B. S. Haldane appears in the film’s introduction and narrates the film, which contains Russian text with English applied next to, or over the top of, the Russian. The operations are credited to Doctor Sergei S. Bryukhonenko.

I can’t find the lengthy black and white footage I once saw on youtube.
Apparently, the surgeon’s insanity can be passed on to the re-animated.
