This directive, command from on high, SCREAMS, ABSOLUTELY SCREAMS........

CONVENTION OF STATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The States that make up the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA are not puppet states.

They are sovereign states. Sovereign states that created the Federal government. A Federal government that constantly tries to be a national government.

It is way past time to put this wannabe national government back in its cage.

Right. It’s a political football. A feel good talking point for the Leftist with a need to show how good a person he, or she is.

Supposedly counterculture hipsters slavishly taking orders from the White House is freaking hilarious.

Compared to many things in the past, I don’t recall any Congressional hearings, or new laws, before this abrupt change.

“Simple questions: what studies were done, what panel of experts was consulted, did Obama meet with parents”

Obama met with his peeps at the gay bathhouse and took their opinion. They were down with it.

A convention of states would just lead to more hellish conformity. I want a country where if I drive into Alabama, it feels like ALABAMA, not Ohio or Montana, and when I drive into Montana it doesn’t feel like Maine or Texas or Oregon, it feels like MONTANA. States used to have the right to their own unique character before the federal monolith descended on them all. It is long past time for free states again. A convention of states only leads to crap like New York telling Washington what to do. How about we just get the federal juggernaut off of all of them and let our states be free?

How would something from the original articles of the Constitution lead to something like that? especially since the status quo is the result of ignoring said Constitution?

Federal funding extortion brought us the nationwide 55 mph speed limit in the 70’s, the nationwide drinking age of 21 in the 80’s, and the nationwide 0.08 BAC DUI standard in the 90’s.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The communists didn’t support any and all centralization efforts, including the interstate highway system, for no reason.

Very few people are talking about this. If they do it's just to snicker or to say it's no big deal. Even people with kids don't seem to be all that worried.

This reminds me of where we were about thirty or so years ago with regard to gay marriage. There was this collective unbelief that anything would change.

My feeling is that business owners are going to slowly start converting all of their restrooms to single-stall unisex restrooms. That way they can try and turtle their way out of any controversy.

It won't be imposed so much as just happen. There will probably be an app for our phones that tells us where the nearest unisex single-stall toilets are located so we can turtle our way out of controversy as well.

Is this the cultural enormity that is beatable? Or will it just get imposed, like ‘gay marriage’ has? What do you think?

I believe it will be forced on everyone. I believe the left will keep on pushing... They can keep on dreaming up all new forms of perversions - like demanding men and women not "discriminate" by trying gay sex. The left is sick, demented, and will not rest until their boot is fully on everyone's neck. The idea is to break society down to the point where full blown soviet style communism can be implemented. That has been their plan all along, and I believe they will succeed.

I thought it was self evident. If the federal government isn’t making rules that make every state act like every other state, our states would quickly reclaim their individual character. I was a kid in the 60s and we traveled a lot. Even then it seemed like driving into a new state was like driving into — as the Texas tourism slogan has it — a whole ‘nother country.

Well, they are continuing to nudge the sheep. But they have overstepped. They stopped nudging subtly, and are openly bludgeoning. The sheep are turning out to have a bit of wolf in them! LOL!

I don’t see how Article V fits into that. Especially when it was designed to be a bulwark against an overgrown federal government, and also a bulwark against certain states ruling over others.

So the ones that have multi-person bathrooms now will have to change them to two rooms with stalls or something?

On the beaches near me they had so much trouble with men having sex with men in the public restrooms, that they replaced all of the large restrooms with rows of single stall, unisex restrooms. They look like rows of concrete port-a-potties.

So the city fathers could have confronted the issue head-on, brought it out in the public, and done something to stop the behavior including increasing penalties, fines, etc. Or they could choose the easier way out with port-a-potties.

It was easy to figure out ahead of time which decision they would make.

Uhhh...any “bulwark against the federal government” obviously hasn’t worked. Just a guess you’re too young to remember when states had their own attitudes, their own way of doing things, their own swagger. There was such a time, trust me.

I think we might be on a downslope of cultural death that will never have a speed bump or sharp turn to wake anyone up. We might just get worse and worse, with not enough folks ever fighting over anything that goes too far. If I was the devil, that would be how I would try to work it. Don’t ever give them anything too bad too fast.

Come on, there’s a reason this wouldn’t have gone down 20 years ago.

Amendment Number N to the Article V convention:

The Federal Government shall at no time provide funding of any kind to State Governments except in cases of extreme emergency with the understanding that all funds provided along with reasonable interest will be reimbursed in a timely fashion.
