Absolutely. Trump will do better with blacks than any recent Republican Presidential candidate. Also the problem with the misleading “favorability” polls is that people equate it to who those respondents will vote for. A lot of these people may indeed have a problem with Trump but they probably also like some things about him and probably like him better than Shrillary. Who in their right mind wouldn’t?
Yes. Just about everyone I’ve talked to in my extended family (a mix of Independents, Democrats, and Republicans) has a somewhat negative view of Donald J. Trump. Yet, almost all expect to vote for him over Hillary. “Unfavorability” is not the decisive concept when faced with a binary choice and possibly lesser-of-two-evils.
I had an “unfavorable” view to one extent or another of GHW Bush, Bob Dole, GW Bush, John McVain, and Mittens Romney. Yet, I preferred all of them to the Democrat offered in those elections. “Unfavorable” in polls is not as important as it is often made out to be.
